Earthquake are a big danger. local have to leave a lot of valuables to get out of the building. Locals suffer from earthquakes a lot and sometimes things get worse. An earthquake hit a dam and things got twice as bad as a tide wave. It is even worse for these people. And it is a truckload of work to repair the damage millions of dollars. They lose there job and there home they run away to family then it will be a lot harder to repair

What happens after an earthquake? There may be many reactions such as volcano eruptions, tsunamis, and wildfires.

Earthquakes affect volcanoes because Seismic

waves weaken the magma chamber and cause an explosive eruption from the volcano.

Earthquakes affect tsunamis by large earthquakes on the seafloor when giant rocks move past each other suddenly, causing the water to move and make giant waves called tsunamis.

And finally Forest Fires are made from Earthquakes when a telephone line, or something electric or with gas gets loose. Then it might burn a tree to ashes and the fire gets caught on some dead grass and so on.

Earthquakes can be very destructive to humans, it can destroy houses, it can seriously damage people, their things, and maybe even kill them! There are a few things you should do if you want to survive a powerful earthquake.

Drop to the ground. Don’t think about it, just do it. If something happens and an earthquake starts , drop quickly.

Get under something strong! Maybe a table or a heavy chair, (Never try to hide in a building but don’t go out of your way to get outside) but if you have no choice then at least get under something, in case something falls. Like a lot of dishes, the thing you’re under will hopefully protect you

Cover your next and head with any available body part or something that you trust and will not let your head or neck get hurt.

Also- though scientists are working on it- earthquakes cannot be forecasted till they are happening, so if you live in an area that gets lots of earthquakes, be ready.

Most earthquakes last a minute or less but can do big damage. Each year, around 1 million earthquakes happen, just most of them you can’t feel because they have a super small effect. Earthquakes can also make landslides happen. Earthquakes can make landslides because the shaking makes things slide and then before you know it, you have a landslide.

Earthquakes can also make avalanches, just like landslides, the shaking makes the ground move and then a few large rocks tumble into each other, then more, and more, and soon you have an avalanche on your hands.

Also, sometimes the large earthquake doesn't destroy everything, just weakens everything. Then sometimes, a second earthquake can finish what the first earthquake started.

Have you ever wondered how much damage earthquakes make here are a few big earthquakes that destroyed places on earth. In San Francisco, 1906, a giant earthquake happened. Though the earthquake lasted a very short period of time, the earthquake had a terrible fire afterward. The fire went on for three days! More than 700 people were killed, and the city was destroyed. It took a long time to build San Francisco back, but finally the place was rebuilt and everything went back to normal until… October 17, 1989, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake hit the San Francisco Bay Area, killing 67 people and causing more than $5 billion in damages.... The disaster is known both as the San Francisco-Oakland earthquake and the Loma Prieta earthquake because it was centered near Loma Prieta Peak in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This earthquake is the most powerful recorded earthquake in history. On May 22, 1960, —magnitude 9.5—hit Chile. ... The Valdivia earthquake left two million people homeless, injured at least 3,000, and killed approximately 1,655!There are many different earthquakes, some not as powerful or deadly as others, but even if it’s a small earthquake, you’ll probably remember it.

Earthquakes are caused by two plates in the sea, which causes two plates in the water to shift. Scientists measure earthquakes by seismographic waves. Other earthquakes can be caused by plates pulling apart and plates overlapping. Some earthquakes cause forest fires and only about half of all earthquakes are able to be detected but don’t worry you are most likely to be robbed then to experience a destructive earthquake. Although most earthquakes are destructive some earthquakes cannot even be felt.

How many kinds of earthquakes do you think there are?

There are four different types of earthquakes. Believe it or not, two of them are actually caused by humans! Collapse earthquakes happen when deep underground the earth is moved. This happens in mining where people search for oil, diamonds, and other valuable things. When those are taken out, sometimes the earth above it collapses which causes the collapse earthquake. The explosion earthquake is caused by a nuclear bomb. It shakes the earth and makes it break apart. This is another terrible way that humans cause earthquakes.

Volcanic earthquakes are caused by lava coming up from the earth’s core. They happen either before or after a volcano errupts. This kind of volcanic eruption often actually helps people. When people feel the rumble, they know to run away so they don’t get hurt when the volcano erupts. The most commonly known kind of earthquake is called a tectonic earthquake. A tectonic earthquake is caused by the movement of the earth’s tectonic plates. These happen most often around where the 7 major plates are. All of these kinds of earthquakes are very dangerous. It is important to stay safe and try not to become a person who is responsible for causing collapse or explosion earthquakes.

Earthquakes can occur at any time of the year, but some believe that March is the earthquake month.Effects (Hannah) Seismic waves affect magma chambers, making volcanoes explode.Earthquakes under the sea happen, then push waves making tsunamis..Earthquakes make wildfires when gas, or anything electric gets out and catches on to anything..If an earthquake happens, drop to the ground, hide under something heavy so things don’t fall on you, cover your head and neck..Earthquakes can kill and injure humans. .Earthquakes can destroy houses, cities, trees, and more .Most earthquakes last a minute or less but can do big damage. On May 22, 1960, —magnitude 9.5—hit Chile. .The Valdivia earthquake left two million people homeless, injured at least 3,000, and killed approximately 1,655! Different levels of earthquakes(Dylan C)Different earthquake levels are determined by the richter scale one is a harmless a ten is mass destruction Japan was hit by a 9.5 earthquake In 1906 an earthquake hit San Francisco on a richter scale of 9.1! The second worst earthquake recorded No earthquakes have been on richter scale 10 or maximum destruction The strongest earthquake was in japan About 100 earthquakes of about 1 million earthquakes are above 7 on the richter scale and 1000 are mild but the rest are all harmless except for a few that are at least level 3 Paragraphs on this topic Effects ( Hannah)	What happens after an earthquake? There may be many reactions such as volcano eruptions, tsunamis, and wildfires. Earthquakes affect volcanoes because Seismic waves weaken the magma chamber and cause an explosive eruption from the volcano. Earthquakes affect tsunamis by large earthquakes on the seafloor when giant rocks move past each other suddenly, causing the water to move and make giant waves called tsunamis. And finally Forest Fires are made from Earthquakes when a telephone line, or something electric or with gas gets loose. Then it might burn a tree to ashes and the fire gets caught on some dead grass and so on.Earthquakes can be very destructive to humans, it can destroy houses, it can seriously damage people, their things, and maybe even kill them! There are a few things you should do if you want to survive a powerful earthquake.Drop to the ground. Don’t think about it, just do it. If something happens and an earthquake starts , drop quickly.Get under something strong! Maybe a table or a heavy chair, (Never try to hide in a building but don’t go out of your way to get outside) but if you have no choice then at least get under something, in case something falls. Like a lot of dishes, the thing you’re under will hopefully protect you Cover your next and head with any available body part or something that you trust and will not let your head or neck get hurt.Also- though scientists are working on it- earthquakes cannot be forecasted till they are happening, so if you live in an area that gets lots of earthquakes, be ready. Then sometimes, a second earthquake can finish what the first earthquake started.Where do they occur most? (Ying)Earthquakes mostly occur along the edge of continental plates and oceanic. The Earth’s crust is made of pieces like a puzzle. The plates under the ocean are called oceanic plates, the rest are continental plates.Earthquakes occur when two plates start moving apart or to break this down the Earth is a puzzle. Once a puzzle piece is taken out of the puzzle, it’s missing a piece so the pieces can move like the Earth is being pulled. How can we stay safe during an Earthquake? (Ying)Not go outside Hide under table If you go outside you have a chance of getting smashed by trees or light poles. During Earthquakes you should hide under a table and stay there. Earthquakes last less than a minute, but some are really destructive. If you know about N.E.I.C or the national earthquake information center listen up because they may be your key to survival.Important Events Have you ever wondered how much damage earthquakes make here are a few big earthquakes that destroyed places on earth. On May 22, 1960, —magnitude 9.5—hit Chile. ... The Valdivia earthquake left two million people homeless, injured at least 3,000, and killed approximately 1,655!There are many different earthquakes, some not as powerful or deadly as others, but even if it’s a small earthquake, you’ll probably remember it.Causes Earthquakes are caused by two plates in the sea, which causes two plates in the water to shift. Although most earthquakes are destructive some earthquakes cannot even be felt.HENRY FURNISS subtopics:Interesting Facts about Earthquakes Https://www.ducksters.com/science/earthquakes.phpTectonic earthquakesformed large mountain ranges like the Himalayas and the Andes.San Francisco is moving toward Los Angeles at the rate of about 2 inches per year — the same pace as the growth of your fingernails Volcanic Earthquakes On any given day, there are about 20 volcanoes erupting somewhere in the world. There are several million earthquakes every year!Standing water smells before an earthquake! An earthquake caused Mount. Everest to shrink!https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/explore/science/earthquake/Main Types of Earthquakes:tectonic earthquakes are caused by the movement of tectonic plates 20,000 per year Volcanic earthquakes are caused by lava coming up from the earth’s core and they happen either before or after a volcano erupts 50-70 volcanoes that erupt every year, most of those erupt more than once a year collapse earthquakes are caused when there is movement underground in caves or mining areas. Most major mining accidents are caused by these kinds of earthquakes Explosion earthquake are caused by detonating a nuclear bomb Paragraph:There are four different types of earthquakes. They happen either before or after a volcano erupts. There are three different types of faults: Normal, Reverse, and Transcurrent Normal faults form when the hanging wall drops down. The forces that create normal faults are pulling the sides apart, or extensional.Reverse faults form when the hanging wall moves up. The forces creating reverse faults are compressional, pushing the sides together. Transcurrent or Strike-slip faults have walls that move sideways, not up or down. https://people.uwec.edu/jolhm/eh/toivonen/types.htmhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-MdpmX8E0wGlossarySeismic waves: Energy caused by the sudden breaking of rock within the earth or an explosion Example: Seismic Waves can make a volcano explode.Destructive: causing great and irreparable harm or damage.	“Did you hear about the destructive earthquake?”Magma Chambers: A place in a volcano that holds that lava Example: “The Magma Chamber couldn’t keep the lava in any longer and the volcano exploded!”Forecast: To be told in advance. Example: The weather girl forecasted that it will be snowy today.Scientist: A person who studies science Example: Scientists have found out so many things we wouldn’t have known without them.Plates: Earth's outer shell is divided into several plates that glide over the mantle, the rocky inner layer above the core. Seismographic waves: an elastic wave in the earth produced by an earthquake or other means.Fault: fractures on the earth’s crust
