Speed Skating

I grew up skating. My dad has been skating, competing, and training since 1985. He made sure that all of his kids knew how to skate since they were able to walk. There is quite a bit involved in speed skating culture, it's pretty much a lifestyle. We skate outside whenever possible, we skate indoors or on ice in the winter, and we make sure to watch the Olympics as well as the world championships, among other skating races. There also is always a ritual when we practice or go to a race and it is different for everyone.

Gaming

Gaming has also been a very big part of my life since I was little. I grew up playing Halo with my older half siblings and extended family and friends. We even had our own LAN games at our house and would invite everyone to come over to play. With gaming culture there are many different parts or niches. Some people only play online. While others love to play on their own. Each with their own sub-cultures of their own. Personally, I jump between playing on my own and playing with others and don't really hold myself down to one or the other. I do however tend to stick with RPGs, MMOs, strategy, and adventure games. The deeper the story, the better.

Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If you haven't already been able to tell by living in Utah, there is a huge culture around being a member. It includes a lot of jargon that can be confusing and intimidating, even to someone who has been around other members their entire lives. Being a member involves a great deal of selflessness, volunteering, and kindness. However, everyone is fallible and there are still members who give an incorrect representation of how a member of the church is expected to live.
