Can we add something to the Paws & Think to allow parents to schedule phone calls? Just a line for "convenient times to call" or "best ways to contact" might make it clear to student/parents that we are serious about discussing these issues, and reinforce the idea that teachers' time is valuable, too.

Is it possible (through the county and not just the school) to offer parenting workshops? Parenting is hard. There are a lot of single parents. There are a lot of stressed parents. Maybe some support for the family as a whole would be a good foundation for improved behaviors and expectations for our students at school.

I was thinking we could all design the bus loop with chalk one day. We could choose or even have the kids positive words, phrases, or quotes to help everyone "step into" a happy place and set the tone for a positive environment!

Abby Beytin has recently advocated for and receive approval for Community Schools. There are 2 schools in BCPS that will be the two initial Community Schools. The ultimate goal is to bring the community in opposed to going out into the community. Somebody could touch base with Abby to see if she can offer any ideas for "bringing the community in". BCPS offers Parent University workshops for a variety of topics. They will come to the school and I think there is a workshop proposal that can be accessed online.
