Board of Education was the beginning of the changes needed in education. The ruling in this case tried to end segregation in schools between whites and children of color. The supreme court concluded that de jure segregation violated the fourteenth amendment of the constitution. (338) I’m quite frankly astonished that such cruelty existed because my skin color is brown and I would be put into a school that was for colored people. A student’s skin color should not determine whether a student can attend that certain school that is both ethically and morally wrong.If this event in history had never occurred who knows how long it would have taken to get justice for colored people it might of taken another decade or so before someone would step and advocate for equality in the education setting.

*the school and home must work together to meet children's needs

*Student's general health and physical development require attention. 

These are a few of the principles that were addressed and I think it's great because it helps create a relationship with the parents and with the teachers. Also addressing the health of the student is important because in today's society students have physical education as part of their schooling.

(329) I believe this event was also important in the history of education because if parents couldn't afford to have their children attend high school then their children were not reaching their full potential in education. I also believe it's important because in today's age going to high school is mandatory for all students and graduating from high school is a big deal. High school is important because it leads students to attending college and pursuing a career as well.

It was primarily designed to have all students reach certain standards and also to get funding to schools to help those students that were struggling in school. This act also was to help English Language Learners achieved a certain academic performance. I grew up with the NCLB act and was accustomed to taking exams at the end of school year to see if my teachers were helping us students achieve those standards. This event is #4 on my top 5 because it made school's responsible to employ teachers who follow the guidelines necessary to make all students successful.

Nichols the Supreme Court established that schools must offer students sufficient special instructions to be afforded an equal education opportunity. (344) I think this event is important because it helped address issues that I have seen in many schools throughout my educational experience. I've had friends who came from Mexico or parts of Central America who have little to no understanding of the English language. The reasons why they came to the United States of America are different than each other, but I believe these students should be given an equal opportunity to succeed as the rest of the students.
