There will be many students that may have already learned about a lot of historical events, and it will be my job to help them gain a better understanding of U.S. History. Some students will be faced with new information that they will need to either accept (fully or partial) or reject it. Those students that might know more about a topic than another and they would be able to help their classmates learn the material. I think that in history you can have many different kinds of assignments that students can learn from. Like reading primary source documents and understanding what the underlying messages are, working on a project on an amendment of the Constitution to present to the rest of the class, or discussing a moment in history as if the students were there and able to influence what was happening. I would work on shifting the focus from just me lecturing the students.
