In Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe uses a lot of written expression and figurative language to illustrate great word choice.
1. "spectators held their breath" They probably didn't literally hold their break but is shows that the crowd waited in anxious anticipation.
2. "Okonkwo was as slipper as a fish in water" This is a simile comparing the character to a fish because he could easily slip out of his opponent's grasp during the fight.
3. "ill-fated lad" This is used to describe a new character. I like this word choice because it foreshadows that something bad is going to happen to him later in the story.

The book I am reading is called No Way Out by Peggy Kern it is a book from the series called The Bluford Series. What I have read so far about the book is that a boy name Harold Davis is under a lot of stress due to his Grandmother’s fall. She is badly injured and can’t really do anything on her feet so Harold has to do everything around the house like cleaning up around the house, cooking food, and also taking care of his Grandmother and her injuries. Harold was at school when he found out that his Grandmother had fallen. They called him down to the Principal’s Office and told them and got someone to take him down to the Hospital so he could see her. He found out that she had a severe leg abrasion, and a minor and she will recover slowly head trauma. They began to ask if he had anyone else that could look after him because they are concerned that his Grandmother could fall again or is too injured to be looking after someone and that she should be put into someone else’s care so Harold could still attend school.
