This story is about a group of children who work together to find mysteries throughout the vacations and experiences the have. In this book, the mystery is inside of a massive castle that a friend surprisingly owns. In this castle, there was a man that died many years ago and supposedly haunts the house. Emory Scott is the previous owner of this massive castle that is built on a mountain next to the beach. He had a mysterious death that nobody knows about which is the base of this story. There are many times throughout the story where the three main characters hear noises coming from somewhere in the castle that sounds like a ghost. Eventually, these characters are sick of hearing the loud ghost screams so they decide they are going to find out what it is. After staying up really late one night to try and see if there are any things that aren't normal and they see a light outside by a playhouse. This light was assumed to just be a firefly but when they left the house to check out what it was, it was a person. When they looked at what he was doing they saw him go into an underground tunnel which went under the castle. Eventually, they went down there and figured out that the ghostly screams were coming from parrots. These parrots were exotic and near extinction so they rescued them and brought them to the main room in the castle. They figure out that the man was a poacher who sold exotic animals for loads of money.
