Step 1: Choose an original and fractured fairytale we read in class.
Step 2: Brainstorm what you liked and disliked about each version. Things to think about: Which characters in each version did you prefer? Which perspective did you like better: the original story or the fractured? What changes were made in the fractured version?
Step 3: Write your thoughts in complete sentences and if you can, practice using evidence from the story to support your thoughts. This will help you when we begin writing our first draft of our opinion piece!
Step 4: Comment on one friend's post. Provide feedback that will help them make their draft. Don't simply say "good job!" but explain why they did a good job. Provide feedback that will help them better their work for their draft! See my example for more help.

The fairytale I chose was Beauty and the Beast. I liked the fractured version better because the beast was able to explain his side of the story. The beast explained that he didn't actually mean to be vain like he was made out to be in the original story, but actually a kind-hearted prince that was practicing his acting skills.

The fairytale I picked is The Frog Prince. The fractured version is The Frog Prince As Told By The Frog. The original version reminded me of the story I listened to as a child, but I feel as though it is a bit dated and not as popular as it used to be. That's definitely not saying that it isn't still important to read! I really loved the fractured version because it was told by the frog, and the storyline was a comical spin-off of the original version. The fractured version went off of the original story, but told it from a different perspective. I really enjoyed the light-heartedness of the fractured version and felt as though it still conveyed themes from the original story.
