Riddle me this: What is common between a you tube cat video, online video/voice call and a telegram?
So the answer to the riddle is ‘Submarine Communication Cables’. These cables are the common thing between a telegram, international phone calls, and now the entire internet.

Submarine communication cables  are cables which transfer information bundled on to light, instead of transmitting electrical signals directly, this technology is vastly superior now. These cables have a lot of protective coverings that can withstand currents at the sea bed.

Interesting facts about SCC

  • Submarine communication cables has an outer covering of Kevlar. Kevlar is armour used by the armed forces to prevent gunshots and knife wounds. The Kevlar covering is used so that the  sea creature which we mentioned earlier that liked chewing on these cables – is a shark. Yea, the same kind from the movie Jaws.
  • These have a diameter of just about an inch.
  • Currently, India has cables running to two cities – Mumbai and Chennai and through here the internet ‘flows’ into our country. From here, our local service providers take over and we get the internet in our homes and on our phones.

You can see how an eye with myopia (shortsightedness, nearsightedness) and an eye with hypermetropia (farsightedness) is different from a normal eye. The demonstration also shows why a diverging lens is used to correct shortsightedness and why a converging lens is used to correct farsightedness.

It is okay – Nothing is wrong with you. It is just your brain singing and such tunes are called earworms. An earworm is a repeating snippet of music, about 15 to 20 seconds long which keeps involuntarily playing in your head. About 90 percent of the population is bound to have an earworm crawl in at some point of time in their life.
If you feel like a song is on repeat and you need to  pause it then you can practice some of these tricks to get that song out of your head:->Keep yourself busy with other activities like going out to play or reading your favorite book.->You can try and listen to the entire song to help get that tiny tune out of your head.->Find another song which can take your attention away from the one playing in your mind.
