Tustan is a unique monument of history and architecture of IX - XIII centuries, that has no analogues in Europe. This is a place where history can turn back and become part of the Ukrainian culture of the Middle Ages. In a thousand years B.C. tribes of pagans lived on this territory. And on the stones of this rocks you may find about 270 petroglyphes. The most popular among them are the signs of sun - which glorified the pagans god of Sun. In the IX - XVI century there was a fortress made of wood. After the archaeological digs scientists made a graphic reconstruction of the 5-storied fortress. In 1241 it was ruined by Mongol and Tatar army. There is also a museum, where you can see the remains of the fortress and archaeological finds. The height of the rocks is about 75 m. Now it is a part of Ukrainian historical preserve.
Originality of Tustan lies not only in its natural features, but the rock itself is impressive. Tustan uniqueness lies in the possibility of accurate (90%) reproduction of wooden buildings that existed on the rocks. The fact is that the builders erecting an impenetrable wooden fortress on rocks, hollowed in stone grooves for fixing wooden structures. There is no tree anymore, but the traces have been preserved in a stone. Wall-city of Tustan creates a complex of rocks: Rock, Sharp Stone, Little rock, groove and rock adjacent to Voronyi chain.

Since 1918, the village of Bakota has become a border - very close to the border with Romania. In 1973, there was information about the future flooding of the village to build a hydroelectric power station. Residents were given eight years to leave the city, and in 1981 began a gradual rise in the level of the Dniester, which lasted six years and took under water several dozen villages.
Now tourists are attracted by the fantastic scenery, several beaches and, of course, the remains of a rock monastery. There are several caves and niches from the burials of monks. There are three springs with healing water nearby. By the way, they say that one of the sources cures eye diseases. The water is cool and very tasty, and the road to the springs is decorated with ribbons and icons from hundreds of visitors.

Valleys of daffodilsEvery spring, thousands of tourists come to this plays from all over to admire the flowering of the Daffodil Valley - an incredible, unsurpassed, unique spectacle!Today, the Daffodil Valley in the Khust region belongs to the UNESCO biosphere reserves. Such a mass simultaneous flowering of the Daffodil Valley is almost the only one in the world. In this area - a special climate, mountain rivers, thermal waters, alpine meadows, virgin forests, where there are many rare animals. In total, almost 500 species of different plants have been recorded in the Valley. The Valley was formed during the Ice Period, when a huge amount of land slipped from the local mountains. According to researchers, it was in this soil that there were daffodil seeds, and when the ice came down, streams of water flowed into the valley and fed the plants. So daffodils managed to adapt to difficult mountain conditions for their population.Interestingly, the Daffodil is a poisonous flower but very beautiful. To this day, every spring the valley blooms with countless delicate flowers and smells all around. It is forbidden to pluck flowers. The caught are fined by security guards. During the flowering period, the valley is visited by more than a thousand tourists every day.

Khortytsia Island in Zaporozhia is one of the most famous places in Ukraine and its pride. This is the largest island on the river Dnipro. Its area is about 23.5 square km, which is almost 10% of the territory of the modern city of Zaporozhia. Khortytsia is not only the largest river island in Ukraine, but also in Europe.
The island was formed by several geological faults, the last of which occurred at about 2.5 million year ago.
Khortytsia Island is a national reserve and it received its status in 1993. An interesting fact is that the Khortytsia Island was the first in Ukraine to receive the status of a national reserve.
Today it includes Khortytsia Island, the Baida Islands, Three Stohy, Dubovy, Rozstebyn, Serednya rocks, Blyznyuky and the Vyrva on the right bank of the Dnipro, as well as a historical monument of national importance "Khortytska Sich".
The modern Khortytska Sich is a generalized image of the Cossack fortress with a detailed reproduction of the arrangement of all eight Cossack Sichs that existed in the 16th-18th centuries.
The whole town is protected by fortifications - a moat, a shaft with a sharp point and defensive towers.
The interior is also arranged according to Cossack traditions. There are Cossack huts, a smithy, a pottery, an inn and a Greek house where ambassadors were received. In the center there are the church and the square where the Cossacks met, elected otamans and made the most important decisions.
Khortytsia Island is very popular tourist attraction nowadays. Many people come here to see the picturesque landscapes of this place and bring back the rich history of our country.
(Demchenko)

Aktovsky canyon stretches on 250 hectares in the Mykolayiv area. It got its name from the village of Aktovo.Due to the unique nature - giant rocks and boulders, 40-50-meter depths of granite, specific flora and fauna - the canyon is considered one of the wonders of Ukraine. However, tourists are attracted not only by the unusual beauty of the canyon, but also by its mystique. The river, which stretches between the vast steep banks, has a strange or even mystical name - Dead Sea. There are several legends associated with this.

The first legend dates back to the times of the Khanate. Then the Tatar army at any cost wanted to get all the Scythian gold, which was in the canyon. Locals, in order to protect their property, buried them at the bottom of the river, and its water was ruined by a strong poison, from which the enemies died in terrible torment.

Due to such legends, the canyon was named "Valley of the Devil". People who went there alone either disappeared or went crazy.

Whether the legends affect tourists or something, but they are very few - an average of up to a thousand people a year.

(Hmeliarska Hrystyna)

Khotyn Fortress has witnessed numerous wars and battles. For centuries, it has been a center for the development of crafts and trade, culture and economy. This medieval beauty can tell a lot to anyone who wants to listen to her…

It is no coincidence that our ancestors called the rocky cape above the Dniester "Hotin". The name of the city comes from the verb "to want", because the cape was a desirable and reliable place for ancient settlers. Due to its strong fortress and favorable location, Khotyn became a center for the development of crafts and trade, which, in turn, contributed to the flourishing of its culture and economy. The city was an important point in European-Asian trade.

Located on major highways, Khotyn has always attracted the attention of conquerors. In order to protect against them, a fortress was built, which survived for centuries and saw under its walls hordes of soldiers of the Ottoman Empire, the rebels of Mukha, the people's avengers of Dytynko soldiers of Dmitro Vyshnevetskyand Petro Doroshenko.

During the Liberation War of the Ukrainian people against the Polish nobility, Bohdan Khmelnytsky's troops twice entered Khotyn.

Khotyn Fortress is also known for the events of the Khotyn War, which took place under the walls of the fortress in September-early October 1621. This war glorified the Zaporozhian Cossacks and their Hetman Peter Konashevich-Sagaidachny and became a turning point in the history of the Ottoman Empire. The victory at Khotyn saved Western Europe from the invasion of the Janissaries, made a strong impression on all peoples and gained resonance in world literature.

Many feature films were shot in the Khotyn Fortress, including "Viper", "Zahar Berkut", "Ballad of the Valiant Knight Ivanhoe", "Three Musketeers", "Robin Hood's Arrows". Among the recent ones are the film adaptation of the work of the famous Ukrainian writer Yuriy Mushketyk "Yasa" and the shooting of the film "Zaporozhye Sich" based on Mykola Gogol's novel "Taras Bulba".

(Myhan)

Pidhirtsi Castle is one of the best examples in Europe of combining an imposing palace with bastion fortifications. The ensemble of the castle, in addition to it, includes an inn of the XVIII century, a church of the middle of the XVIII century. , a park that belongs to the monuments of landscape art of national importance. It was built in 1635-1640 by the architect Andrea del Acava with the participation of engineer Guillaume de Beauplan at the request of the then owner of Pidhirtsi, Crown Hetman of the Commonwealth Stanislaw Koniecpolski. The fusion of styles of different epochs took place so organically that the palace is perceived as a complete work of high art. The palace consisted of large, spacious halls, the names of which corresponded to the color of the walls or collections that were stored in them.

Pidhirtsi Palace was considered one of the best in Europe. The castle was nationalized. Everything that was left there was transferred to the museum in Lviv. A sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis patients was located in the castle palace. In 1956 the palace building of the castle burned down. The fire destroyed unique wooden carved ceilings with paintings, as well as artistic decoration of the interiors of the second and third floors. In 1997 the castle was transferred to the use of the Lviv Art Gallery.
