Arrived at the company at 9.00am which had received the company badge for the access for the entrance and others gate to the company. The company's laptop is being received and begins to enroll in the new employee IT Orientation which consists of setting up the laptop information and registering the laptop under the company identification (Core ID). 

We are being directed to a meeting room where all of the interns are being gathered for the brief introduction of the company. 

The first introduction is from the company’s IT department which provides more information about the company’s laptop and the importance of keeping the laptop safe as it consists of all of the company's private information which is prohibited to be known by other companies/competitors.

The second introduction is the the company’s asset movement guidelines which consists of their ship request guidelines, material pass guidelines which consists of strategic trade act 2010 to let interns learn more about what the company manufactures in which Motorola Solutions now focus in R&D and mostly manufacturing walkie-talkie and the products are also used by PDRM.

The third introduction is the company’s human resources chart which consists of the company’s HR Lead of the country, respective HR manager for different departments and HR services. Next is the key belief of the company and what the company stands for which are innovative, passionate, driven, accountable, partners and inclusive. There is also a leadership model in which everyone is a leader which is the 5 calls to action which are to move fast, improve decisions, think differently and big, lead change and take risks, collaborate. They also discuss employee benefits and also HR policies and guidelines.

Supervisors provide documents about the financial policies that the company had and the information is needed to proceed for my internship in this company.

 Supervisor had instructed one of the interns that had been in the team for a period of time to help me grant access to the company’s data as it is needed for the task I was required to do during the internship period as I will be replacing the formal interns’ work.

The company introduced that unlike other companies that use Microsoft teams, Motorola solutions use Google instead for everyday workflow of every staff.

The staff introduce and provide a hand on session for interns on how to use some of the features of google such as google calendar, google chat, gmail and also the AI that Google had created which is Gemini which can help us in daily work

The supervisor held a meeting with the interns with other members of the teams in order to get to know each other better and how interns can contribute to the teams.

The team consists of 14 members including the interns and it is responsible for the finance project of the company that is in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. 

The meeting included what every member's responsibilities were and what they had contributed for the company.

The supervisor assigned task to us in which is under other members in order for us to learn from them

The members provide useful information such as what application that had been used to process the data of the company and how to install into the company laptop

They also provide videos for interns to learn from step by step with clear instructions for us to watch before the hands-on session begins.

Today is self learning for the interns as most of the members are all busy.

An excel sheet is given for the interns to self-learn from the video before a task is assigned to them.

The excel sheet consists of example of the completed task with screenshot of the step-by-step on how to complete it and also video on how to complete it

This allows interns to watch the tutorial multiple times and can be watched repeatedly if the interns forget the steps of the assigned tasks.

Automation is divided into 3 types in the company which are alteryx, tableau and Robotic Process automation

As MotorolaSolutions is a multinational company, there are a lot of data that needs to be processed in a short period of time so automation can save time, help to prepare data, pulling the same exports or key-stroking the system.

Robotic Process automation can perform actions in business applications, send and read e-mails, connect to databases, extract data from structured documents and so on.

From the tasks, I also learn the benefits of RPA which are scalability, accuracy, increased quality and high productivity.

From the slide given, i had learned that data with and without contexts as the team that had joined is the project finance of the company so data with content is extremely important as we need to identity which receivable from the different buyers or seller and how is it billed or unbilled and how can be listed out systematically and transfer into the next department to sort out.

The supervisor had also assigned a team member for me to go to and to help her to tidy up the data given by other team members.

As it is the close week of the company at the end of the first quarter of the company, there is a lot of data that needs to be organized.

I had been assigned to mimic an excel file as the old documents had crashed and cannot be opened and these documents needed to be sent to other departments which include all of the data and also screenshot of the file.

One of the team members had opened a video call to guide me through on how to complete the tasks

After completing the tasks, i had help with another team member to complete their tasks which is to check the transaction from different buyers they had purchased products or maintenance  of the company as if they had completed the payment to the company so that the other teams can check and push the buyers to pay back to the company as soon as possible.

Today I am still completing the tasks of learning the automation of the company for competent users after learning the basics of the automation system. These tasks provide more in depth of the uses of automation of the company. As the MotorolaSolutions that is located in bayan lepas, Penang is mainly for research and development, automation is extremely important and most of the engineers are also located here. 

There are teams of IT developers who will help to create an automation system for the company. The teams that I have joined also use the automation system that the IT developers create and we are responsible to let the IT developers know what our needs are, such as data extraction or import of data and they will create the automation for us.

As it is still in the close week, most of the team members are busy with their own work, interns do not need to help them as they also do not have the time to guide us so we are assigned to learn more about future tasks through past recording that the previous interns had recorded.

After lunch, the supervisor had booked a meeting room for a more detailed introduction for the company with all of the interns in the teams.

She introduced the team structure and roles for MotorolaSolutions and what is the main financial controller of the company. Moreover, we also learn the business partners and connections of the company and how the company operate 

we also learn the accounting process such as some of the professional terms that the company used. For example WD+0 for ship cut off, WD+3 for the final closing. Revenue recognition methods are also divided into three different types which are Percentage of Completion which means for huge projects that last 5 years and above, Ship & Bill which for letter of credit and Straight-Line which provide warranty, maintenance and managed services.

I was assigned by a team member that is responsible for my tasks for helping her to do the movement check for the company unbilled project. The movement check is to ensure that every project that the company has signed is being paid by the buyers as these are considered long term projects and the payment is based on different milestones that the both parties had agreed upon. Although most of the raw data is being extracted by automation, the tidying up of the data is being done by the team members.

If the balancing amount is not balanced based on other files given, we need to check what are the sources of the revenue or billing, this will ensure that the data is being extracted correctly before transferring to the next responsible teams.

There are many different methods to check if the amount is correct by checking the transaction number, system billing tracker files or the project names.

After completing the tasks given yesterday, there are some problems that I do not know about after self-checking other files and I had asked the task owners to help with the data.

Tasks is assigned to me for today is to help to organize the account receivable that one of the members from the sales team as the total amount is not balanced with the other files, i was order put all of the data in one excel file in order to perform vlookup in which will help to identify which project is the main issues and what year that the project name is in.

Tasks for today are to continue organizing the file that was assigned to me yesterday and extract files from other teams in order to make sure that the data that has been extracted is the same as the file that had been recorded in the previous file. The issue of finding the incorrect data is important because the wrong total number of unbilled will lead to the company not receiving the correct payment and this will cause loss to the company. The country that i was assigned to check is mainly from APAC which is Asia-Pacific.

There are no tasks assigned to me for today so I am self-learning for the future tasks that will be assigned to me after the previous interns leave the company. She had taught me how to check the transaction of the company which hadn't billed the company. When we identify what company hasn't billed, the other sales team will inform the seller that they have paid their portion of the invoice yet.

As is a busy week for the team I joined, today I do not have any special tasks so I only do credit releasing work for different types of projects.

Today I am assigned help to organize the quarter 1 of account receivable for the company and to copy and paste all of the project details towards another file and use formula to import all of the data from last year quarter 4 to the latest file for quarter 1. As this is to make sure that all of the details of the project until this year quarter 1 which is until March 2025 is correctly organized into one single file for all of the finance departments to check into whether the project is completed until what milestone(stages).

Today I was assigned to tidy up all of the unbilled of the company’s order for different countries into one single file for better access. Some of the countries that my company does involve are Korea, Taiwan, India, China, NewZealand, Australia and many more.

Today I will still be assigned to tidy up all the files that haven't been completed yesterday and need to identify which project lines have problems with and make a remark for the financial analysts to look into it and find the problem in which it does not tally.

Today I had continued identifying one of the sales team's revenue and billing. I had faced some of the problems in which some of the project had been separated into multiple lines which caused the total sales to not tally with the file that the finance team do have. By using the Vlookup function in Excel, I was able to identify and combine all of the multiple lines together and identify which project do have the real issues of the sales do not tally with other files.

After further analysis of the previous files, i also had identified that the multiple lines of the project do not only within one year but throughout different years which make the process more complicated to do but by asking my team members, they had explained how i can approach this problems and what is the main concern after identifying the project lines with issues. The higher the variance of all of  the project, the bigger problem will be for the financial analysts to check as it means that both files have large amounts of the sales and billing do not tally with each other.

As the file consists of large amounts of project lines that I needed to identify, I also worked on the same tasks that were given yesterday and tried to complete it before office hours so that my team members can check it before going back.

The file that I had compiled yesterday had been sent to me for further checking as they needed the dates of the missing project lines so that the financial analyst can check by year for efficiency. After checking for all of the missing lines, I informed the team members that I had done the tasks and they can use the file in the google drive for further assists.

Today I did not have any tasks on hand so i had rewatched all of the videos of different tasks that I needed to do that the previous intern had left in a file. This is to make sure that I know how to do the tasks in the future and this will increase my efficiency of doing the tasks as some of the tasks do have deadlines so I needed to know beforehand so I do not need to rewatch the video again for clarification.

Today the company had a Raya celebration for all of the employees which included a special booth for photos and the photos were printed on site for me to take home. Moreover, there is a MotoPlay launch in which the company has celebrated the launching of a gaming room for the employees and can be reserved for playing to reduce stress and entertainment for all of the staff.

I was tasked with verifying the accuracy of transaction payments received from buyers, ensuring proper reconciliation and identifying any discrepancies. Furthermore,I also organized and categorized unbilled projects, contributing to efficient revenue tracking and financial reporting for today.

Today tasks is to copy the last month GL tie out file for different type of countries and try to Pivot out all of the batch transaction that is done in the latest month.

Moreover, i need to check if some of the transaction had been done reversal which means that the transaction had been completed.

If some of the batch do not done reversal after some time, it need to be pin and inform our team members that the transaction needed to be press for payment.

Today i had prepared Top 20 file for movement check for the projects that is from China. As i had rewatch the video that the previous intern had given to me, it become easier for me to do as i had written down notes.

I still rewatch the video for double confirmation as all of the data needed to be accurate and the formula that had been used in the file needed to be correct or else all the data will be calculated wrong.

After double checking the file, i had sent to the team member that i had done the movement file and let her check for mistake.

My team member had inform me that one of the tab which is the reasonable tab that should be "0" had change and wanted me to check the tab.

Upon checking it, there is wrong formulation on my end and i had corrected it had sent it back to my team member.

After checking it, i was informed to sent to another member from other finance team and sent out an email to him and provided a deadline for him for updating the excel file

Today I was inform that to do release and apply credit hold for Australia.

I also had written done notes beforehand so the tasks became a bit easier for me to follow after revising the video that previous intern had left.

I also rewatch the video for some of the details in order to make sure i do not make the same mistakes again.

Today tasks is to help my team members to check some of the CN project with their billings and revenue.

I use the project movement file of the company to check with if the total unbilled is tally with the movement file that the movement file project.

As i had faced some problem with yesterday tasks, i had refer to the team members that had given me to the task. Some of the revenue do not have any transaction number so i don't know how to check if the number is proper.

Moreover, i had identify which revenue is not in the PSR file for the project and it had many manual JV that is not in the PSR file. My team member had given me the correct file to check with the revenue.

After checking with the MA tracking file, some of the JV do not listed in the movement file or is not same with which i had highlighted in yellow and for the revenue that had listed in the PSR file, it total revenue from direct billing only which is tally if i only total the revenue from direct billing from the movement file.

With my team member help's, one of the lines that i do not get to find are resolve as it mapped to another project.

Assigned to do Australia project's movement file. With the video of the former intern, i had successfully done with the step by step guide but i do not get to done all of the movement as one of the part have not get to refresh by my team member.

Today i had done all of the Australia project's movement file as i had ask my team member if the file is ready for me to continue to use for the movement.

My team members had discuss about team buildings for next months and after discussion is we are playing gel balls that is located at Georgetown. We also vote for the date that everyone can accommodate.

Today my team members had updated that our teambuilding had combined with other teams. I also actualizes the project cost for that month and ask project manager to update the small project cost which revenue is less than 1 million.

Today i help with my team members for the audit part of the Unbilled AR for the country India. I need to arrange the movement of the project that is in India from 2024 to current year.

I had a meeting with my team members for the clarification for what does the movement should done in the file.

Continue doing the project movement file for India as it is my first time doing this tasks, i faced some problems using the formula for checking the project as some of the project name is duplicated causing the total movement is not tally with the correct number.

Luckily, my team members had corrected me and help me to map the movement correctly.

I had schedule a meeting with my team members for the project movement file as i have not map the remapping from other project due to duplicate project lines or the project is wrongly map to others customers name.

I had try to remapping and the yearly movement first before asking help from my team members.

Today i had a meeting with my team members as she had provided a new tasks to me which is recording the project movement file for Singapore.

Although every countries need to do project movement file, each countries need different method of recording and by learning it i know how to update Direct billing and direct order and pull project cost and update it into big project tracker for the financial analyst to check.

Have a meeting with my team members as i do not completed the Singapore movement file as some project do not map to the correct column.

After the clarification of my team members, i had remap the project name correctly for their revenue and billing.

Using the guidelines file that the previous intern had provided, i had successfully updated the file to the lastest month.

Participated in MotoSpire which similar to teambuilding which we played boardgames to gain points for our teams and the teams that gain the most points will win at the end of the period.
