Thank you for sharing insight on the value of acknowledging our emotions, and for guiding us to realize that by doing so we are able to identify and respond to our needs. I appreciated your example of being yelled at for leaving your dishes in the sink; by identifying your emotions (disappointed in yourself), you are more able to identify your needs (comfort, support), and are therefore better equipped to react to the situation. Whereas you may have otherwise responded by yelling back and escalating the conflict, by identifying your emotions and needs you are able to stay in control of your reaction. I'll definitely remember this next time I make a similar mistake :)
- AT

Mr. Blair, thank you so much for taking the time to come in and teach us about Emotions and Needs! Thank you for taking the time to engage and converse with us while you taught us, giving us time to hear the science and the facts and then also understand, reflect, and apply all that you were explaining to us! I loved the reflective time that you gave us at the end in regards to the needs sheet, it really sparked a lot of interest and curiosity in me. Emotions have definitely been a very prominent topic of conversation and an area I hoped to better understand/ contextualize. I am definitely going to continue having conversations about what you brought to class and I cannot wait to take all that I learned with me in all that I do moving forward. Thank you so much!
-Radhika Kamran :)

Mr. Blair,

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to present to us on Thursday. Emotionally speaking, it’s been a harder past couple of weeks for me and listening to your listen about emotions, and where they come from really helped me to start unraveling everything. Thank you for your enthusiasm and energy, but also for your seriousness and professionalism with such an important topic. It’s a lesson that’s going to stick with me for a very long time!
-Barbod

Thank you Mr. Blair for a really incredible, passionate and perspective-changing presentation on the power of properly recognizing your emotions and then your subsequent needs. I really appreciated your focus on reflecting on what you are feeling and acknowledging how it will change. I have been trying to go under the iceberg this week when identifying my feelings and found that it did help me dissipate some of my anger or annoyance. I will remember your lesson and continue to implement it in my day to day!!
-Manu

Mr. Blair,
Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to come into our Ambassadors classes. The insights that you shared with us about acknowledging our emotions, the physical effects of emotions on our bodies, and managing emotions are all practices that we can implement into our daily lives and into our roles as Ambassadors. In particular, I loved how you said that there are no bad emotions: there are just emotions. This is really important for us to remember because it’s a reminder that all emotions are valid, no matter what they are. I’ve been in Ambassadors for three years now, and so I’ve been able to experience your lessons multiple times - I feel like I gain something new each time you come into class, and I’m very grateful for that. Thank you again, Mr. Blair :)
Kelly Kokka

Thank you for taking the time to visit 607 and leave us with an amazing message and reminder to stay in-tune with our emotional well-being. On Thursday morning, I was really tired and not feeling my best self, although I couldn't really describe that feeling when I first walked into the classroom. However, as you shared insight to identifying our feelings and how to correlate that emotion into how we can take care of ourselves/what we might need, I realized that I was feeling unmotivated, exhausted, and anxious. By identifying those emotions, I was able to communicate to others my mindset and had an opportunity later on in the day to take care of myself based on my emotional needs. I loved the quick energizers you had us complete at the beginning, like the balloon relay and chair exercise. You always handle important topics like emotional needs and mental health with a keenness to teach and help us become better people that can improve our own well-being. I'm looking forward to practicing what you taught our class, as well as hopefully more visits in the future! Thank you again, we always appreciate your dedication and support in Ambassadors!
- Avery

I learned more in that 1 hour than I learned in all my other classes all week! I was really intrigued by the card experiment you told us about where the body knew faster than the mind. Again, thank you so very much for passing on your emotional wisdom to us!
-Devan M

Mr. Blair,
Thank you so so much for taking time out of your day to come to our ambassadors classes. I learned so much from your lesson, I realized so much about how my emotions work and how I can take the time to recognize what they are communicating and how they are affecting my body and my life. I really needed the reminder and education about how to really listen to myself; I feel like so often during the school day I am too focused on getting everything done that I don't have any time to register how I am feeling emotionally. I am so glad that we have someone like you in the district that cares so much about emotions, needs and educating students on this!! Thank you so much for being so engaging and interactive, and for just being a lovely person to listen to and learn from. Thank you again!!!
- Amelia :))
