I have moved 5 times in my life. I moved when I was little as 3 years old, up till now. I moved to new schools, states, and even to 2 other countries. When I was little I didn't know much about moving but I certainly thought everything was going to change. It did, sort of. As I grew older I became more attached to the places where i once used to live so it was difficult for me to let go, afraid of what might come next is going to be even worse. While I grew older I had this fixated mindset. I wanted things my way, but what I came to realize was that things change all the time and it's okay. I came to change my mindset and keep it open. I now know that going to new places opened up my knowledge and changed me as a person, in a good way. I became more aware, friendlier, social, helpful, and most importantly became more open. Yes, I knew that I would have to leave everything behind but I reminded myself that this experience would be with me and moving to a new place meant I got to start fresh, which I started taking it as a good thing.

How does this relate to my theme?

Moving meant I had to adapt to the change. During my first move, I was completely new to change thinking that it would affect everything in my world. Having the prior experience of the first few moves didn't change my mind about the next. My mind was fixated on one thought I believed and wanted to be true. I didn't have an open mind and I failed to realize the positive impacts it had on me such as meeting new people and adding positive qualities.

During the start of 7th grade I was so hyped up because in every one of my classes I had my friends. Another reason was, I just got to see all of them in-person this time. This could be a good thing and a bad thing. I started to get more distracted. During study sessions in our class, all I wanted to do was talk to my friends. I didn't focus much on any of my classes, well except for P.E. since we had to run laps the whole time. This really affected my performance in school. I didn't really meet my goal to have all 90 and above. It was the end of first semester and the start of the second. I tried to really stay focused and made a new goal to help me. My classes changed. I had some different teachers. When I walked into the class I saw some new faces. I realized I didn't have one friend in a single class! I didn't want to accept this. I wanted my old schedule. It wasn't until late March that I realized I was doing really well in all my classes. I was more focused and really improved my performance at school. I was proud of myself. It really was for the better.

How does this relate to my theme?
This shows that I had to learn how to adapt to the new changes. Adapting to these changes was difficult for me at first because it messed up my "routine" of how things were and not having any friends in my classes made it even harder. I had to work hard, concentrate, and give my best effort in school. I made new friends and even learned to focus without getting distracted or side-tracked. This shows that new changes are usually for the better. I was proud of myself that year too because I improved not only my performance in school, in my daily life, but also as a person to embrace new changes.
