He says that God had spoken to him about risking his money, and that soon after he did risk it that he came into a large wealth. This could all be due to luck of the draw. He doesn't say how he came into it, he just uses the religious imagery of stepping onto water. Basically, saying that he put himself out there because "God challenged him". Now with his blindness towards the situation he doesn't think of what would happen if he lost all of his money. How would he view God then, would he still be the way he is to this day? Futurologists are basically the Prophets of the Science world, using equations to systematically try to come up with explanations and justifications for modern day events, making them modern day prophets. It seems that it has impacted their life quite a bit. But it all comes down to some sort of "religious breakthrough" . Usually they overhear some words spoken about religion or stumble across some form of preaching online. But no matter what the breakthrough is, they all feel some sort of Mystical Energy and how it feels like it "surrounds them" and its almost a feeling of peace. This can be the feeling of getting something off of your mind, feeling like you have someone or something to vent to, and sometimes it does work out for the better, but also sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't they usually view it as "God is just putting me through my trials and that it will get better soon".
