The Precambrian Time is by far the longest period of time and is almost 90% of Earth's history at least covering 4 billion years! Scientists believe simple worms, jellyfish, algae, viruses, and bacteria were the first life forms and they were from this time!

The Paleozoic Era

The Paleozoic era spanned 544 to 245 million years ago and included the evolution of fish, reptiles, insects, and vascular plants. It also included the formation of Pangaea the supercontinent! The Paleozoic era ended with a great mass extinction. During the extinction, 95% of all marine species ceased to exist.

The Mesozoic Era

The Mesozoic era or the age of the dinosaurs was almost 180 million years ago. The Mesozoic era also includes three well known periods the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. There was a mass extinction that made the dinosaurs would then rule earth for this era. The lush plants provided food for enormous reptiles and dinosaurs that existed.

The Cenozoic Era

The Cenozoic era or the Age of the Mammals is the current era we are in! The age of the Mammals is divided into three periods Paleogene, Neogene, and Quaternary. It is also divided into seven epochs Paleocene, Eocene, Oligocene, Miocene, Pliocene, Pleistocene, and Holocene. During the Pleistocene Epoch included the most recent Ice Age!
