In a recent discussions about cross-cultural relationships, a controversial issue has been whether adjusting into significant other's culture can face many difficulties in the relationship. On the one hand, some argue that their cultural differences may take too much effort to overcome if there is no communication between them. From this perspective having an open mind is necessary to be able to understand their partner's personality, beliefs and value their opinions. "It can be difficult to adjust to life in a foreign culture because you suddenly realize that many of these types of customs and expectations, which seem so intuitive at home, can be unexpectedly different abroad." (Pennsylvania State University) In making this comment, the article urges couples to practice communication with their partner to avoid any misunderstandings.

When I was child, I used to think that there were no challenges in relationships, technology and fitness. Being raised in a Mexican family these topics are not common to talk about. As I was growing up, I started seeing the importance to build a relationship with others and what it takes to have a close bond. Being the youngest of four and living in different places the way we maintain our communication is through technology. Living in the Bay Area compared to Mexico is a huge difference. America gives more opportunity than in Mexico because they lack the sources to help others. For example, there are less jobs and only a small percentage qualifies for government aid. Anyone familiar with this topic should agree that with technology it has made it easier to keep communication and the bond strong between siblings. Something that I remember as a teenager is how we used to do fitness together as a family. Working out made us closer because we were all helping each other stay in shape and eating healthier choices. Now in the 21st century every one is working for a living and are busier than ever. Now a days people have to wait for the weekend to have time for family. In this padlet I will introduce a couple of topics that have made an impact in many people's life to this day.

Religion is important in a cross- cultural relationship marriage is something that is valued the most. For some cultural families it is important to have values, morals and beliefs. For instance, in Indian culture marriage is very important to their families and are convinced they will continue to their cultural chain by making sure their families practice their beliefs and teaching them everything they need to know about their roots to be able to pass on to the next generation. In the words of my Punjabi coworker, Surbhi Kainth, "Religions affect married life specially in India. We are not allowed to divorce and if we do we can't marry again. If kids are involved no one will want to take care of them." The essence of Surbhi's argument is that religion has a major role in a cultural relationship. In the film, "Meet the Patels", my coworker's culture also promotes to their own people about their beliefs, rituals and practices. When I was a child I used to think that marriage was the same in all cultures but as I was growing up I started interacting with people from different cultures and realized marriage is something that has to be taken serious and is not something that families may take as a joke.
In a cultural relationship trust is very important because it promotes a healthy relationship. In trust there has to be trust in one another. In different cultures jealousy can mean a good thing but can be overwhelming for others. In the article, "5 ways Culture Influences Relationships" by Fouad Alaa explains that, "How your jealousy is interpreted can depend how it is viewed culturally." In other words, Alaa believes that different cultures may see jealousy as flattering while other cultures may see it as being insecure. These findings have important implications for the broader domain that relationships are not all the same. Relationships is something that not a lot of people are able to have although it is something that we see everywhere we go. In a cross- cultural relationship is not as easy as it seems and in order to help the relationship to keep going there has to be communication. trust and respect for each others beliefs and values. Anyone familiar with cross-cultural relationships should agree that people should do research about other people's cultures so they have an idea of what the outcome may be.

When it comes to the topic of technology, most of us will really agree that it has completely transformed in the medical field. Although technology has improved in the medical field it still faces it's challenges when it comes to high cost medications and leading them to the black market, privacy and doctors not using the right medical procedures. Patients insist that with advancement in technology and the improvement in medicine it has caused the prices to be really high. From this perspective, we can see that medication has been the cure to many health issues we have today. On the other hand, however, others argue that the pricing in medications is driving Americans to purchase on the Black market for medicine. In the article, "The true story of America's sky-high prescription drug prices", by Sarah Kliff she states, "In 2015, patients all around the world spent $14 billion on Humira prescriptions- that's roughly the size of Jamaica's entire economy." She also indicates that, "The United States allows drugmakers to set their own prices for a given product." From this point of view, she is informing is that high drug costs and insurance are driving Americans to go online for medications that are not guaranteed a "safe drug" and may expose their health putting it at risk by consuming unprescribed medicine.

Patient Information at risk

In other cases some patients are convinced that now with the development in technology it has become easier for doctors to share information with other physicians and help get feedback. While others maintain that medical records can be put at risk by hackers being able to access the information and sell to other sources. Margaret Rouse agrees when she writes, "For hackers, PHI (patient's health information), is a treasure trove of personal consumer information that, when stolen, can be held somewhere else or even held hostage through ransomware until victimized healthcare organization sends a pay off." In making this statement, Rouse is reminding us that medical records is valuable information that can be put at risk if it falls into the wrong hands. The issue is important because it will help patients trust their doctors if they keep their information safe.
It has become common today to dismiss the fact that technology in medicine has advanced tremendosely that now doctors are able to do robotic surgeries and some cases doctors don't have to be present in the room. In recent discussions of robotic surgeries, a controversial issue has been this is a safe practice. On the one hand, some argue that this procedure can help patients have a fast recovery. On the other hand, however, others argue that the use of techology instead of a doctor can cause further damage to the patient. In the article, "Robotic Surgery: Risks Vs. Rewards by Tara Kirkpatrick, MD, and Chad LaGrange, MD, state in one of their cases that, "During the procedure there were mechanical problems as the robotic arms were not responding as expected." We have seen technology evolve and seen how most cases have been succesful but still leaves us in doubtif it will be affective for a long period of time. Also, the cost of these practices arfe at a high price which can also lead someone wo does not qualify for these procedures to their own death.
Although technology may have a positive outcome in different scenerios it can be negative in other cases. I still maintain that technology will always have to be a part of our life since we depenfd on it so much. For example, how we communicate with each other and keep track of or activities. Although some might objest that the aadvancement in technology has made prescription prices at high cost, I would reply that research has been successful and has been the cure to many health problems. The issue ius important because it shows the importance of techology and how it can be put at use when it comes to the medical field.

Nutritionists, doctors and other people interested in the fitness and nutrition area would agree that America is one of the places known for its weight problem. About 160 million Americans are considered obese or overweight. This has become a common issue and has impacted young children the most. Many programs have been implemented like Brigaid, "Let's Move" and after school programs to help reduce the risk of health in overweight children in he U.S. Schools have been doing their part when it comes to promoting more school activities for students and healthier food choices. This will help balance students diet and well being to help with this issue. In the article, "In the Bronx, an Elite Chef is Trying to Engineer a Better School Lunch", by Amy Thomas, 2019 posted in the New York Times said, "The fruits of Mr.Giusti's efforts are now on display at five of the 446 public schools in the Bronx, where Brigaid started cooking this year for more than 2,400 students. Pop corn chicken, purchased in bags and reheated, is out; roasted bone-in chicken with Caribbean spices is in. Pizza is no longer frozen, but made fresh, starting with the dough." What the author really means is that when there is food made from scratch and eliminating all the perservatives all these other unhealthy choices." In making this comment we can see that schools are putting their part into helping students choose healthier choices and continuing to come up with activities for them to be able to have more time to be active. Parents also play a big role into this situation because the choices they make can reflect on their children.
