In this class I learned a lot of helpful concepts, and theories that I know I can use later on in life. The ones that stood out to me were The Rule of Thirds, Attractive Bias Theory, Picture Superiority Effect, Cognitive Dissonance, and the Life Cycle Theory. All of these theories came very easy for me to understand, and after learning about them they were easier for my to identify in the real world. It was not until my taking this class that I realized how much visual understanding affects us all every day. This affect could be subconscious or not, but it is definitely important.
The two theories that I will utilize the most in my future will be the Rule of Thirds, and the Attractive Bias Theory. I will use the Rule of Thirds because I plan to be Public Relations Executive, and designing some advertisements, or graphics will be apart of my job. Now that I know what is visually pleasing to the eye, I think I will be more successful in doing so.
I will utilize the Attractive Bias Theory because it is solid proof that first impressions, and the way you look, and present yourself matter. I have always been the type of person to try to "look the part," just because I thought it would give me an upper hand. Now after learning about this theory I know for sure that that is the case. Being yourself is important, but impressing your potential boss at an interview is even more important.

My survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NG2YDX8

My top five concepts are Attractive Bias,Rule of Thirds, uses and gratification theory,Cognitive Dissonance and Aesthetic-Usability Effect. These topic will help me out a lot in the future. The Rule of Third will help me out because it help you get the perfect picture and angles. I plan on having my own gym. So by using the Rule of Third I will put the pictures I take and post them on my website so people can see them.
Uses and gratification theory will be important to me also because I will be using media to help get people to my gym and uses and gratification theory will make that happen because it focuses attention on individuals in the mass communication process. I will use Attractive Bias because it shows you that it matters about the colors and how you look really matters to how people think about you.

Part 2
Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HPB3PMT

Over the course of this class, we learned a lot of communication concepts that help benefit online communication and help us understand what we're looking at on the Internet. The most important to me were the advertising methods, signaling principle, multimedia principle, the rule of thirds, and aesthetic-usability effect. These are all things that I can use when trying to communicate and market myself online as I expand my business. Since I'm in photography, these are all specifically useful in the visual layout of things so I definitely see them as helpful to me.
However, with that being said, I would say the most useful aspect of this class was using technology tools such as LinkedIn and Weebly. These are things I can use when I'm finished with this class and plan to for my own personal marketing and professional endeavors. I think it was a good idea to learn about new technology that can further our career once we've left school. Some of the ones we used aren't used by professionals but these two specifically are. My favorite assignment was creating the PSA because I enjoy editing video and I really connected with my topic.

My survey:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/R2MQDJP

Surveys I took:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HPB3PMT
and
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NG2YDX8

In this class we discussed a great amount of theories all in relation to visual communication. We discussed how the media uses visuals for marketing, advertising, and just overall rhetoric. It was apparent how prominent visual communication is for our generation. Things we learned such as the Rule of Thirds, Attractiveness Bias, and different methods of making our social networking sites stand out. Each one plays a role in our life as we move toward making it into careers since jobs rely on online applications.

This class helped me build my knowledge in graphic designing and web design. It also showed me the power of visual aids and how it can infiltrate the minds of those watching. I think that the attractiveness bias article was important to read because it explained how employers decide on who they choose for certain positions and why. My favorite assignment was the PSA movie maker because I enjoy using iMovie and like editing movies together to make a final piece of “art”.

My survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TQJZQ22
Survey I took: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HPB3PMT
Survey 2 I took:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/R2MQDJP

This class taught me many different communication theories. As a Political Science major, Communication is my minor so I am not as familiar with all of the theories. However, this class taught me concepts such as the Attractiveness Bias Theory, Uses and Gratification Theory, Aesthetics and Usability Effect Theory, Life Cycle Theory, and the Picture Superiority Effect. Although I am not yet positive of what my future career will be, I am sure that I can use the Life Cycle theory and Picture Superiority Effect a lot.

The Life Cycle Theory is important for everyone to understand, and it will be especially important if I go into business. It is important to understand how trends come and go; what is popular now may not be popular in a year. Additionally, whether I go into politics or law, Picture-Superiority Effect is important to remember. Persuasion is necessary as both a lawyer and a politician so remember to use pictures instead of just words will get me a long way.

My survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YL67VYW
Survey I took: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TQJZQ22
Second Survey I took: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/R2MQDJP

The Rule of Thirds is one concept that really stuck with me this semester concerning visual communication via photographs. Before this course, I was not familiar with the term but now I understand how important it can be. It frames the picture and really pulls your eye towards the focus. I plan to utilize this concept in my future career when it comes to portraits or photographs that I use in my work whether it be on websites or whatever the case may be. Another concept that stuck with me was cognitive dissonance. This is the theory that discomfort may be a result of differing views, behaviors, and thoughts. This is an important thing to remember when it comes to the media you create and I will use it in the future for exactly that. I do not want my audience to feel extreme discomfort when I create something so I may want to avoid extensive use of cognitive dissonance.

The other three theories or concepts that resonated with me this semester were: Uses and Gratification Theory, Attractiveness Bias Theory, and Aesthetics and Usability theory. These theories increased my knowledge of visual communication because I was unaware of them prior to this course. They have all enhanced my skills because now that I am aware of them, I can better utilize them.

My survey:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YTC566W
Survey I took:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RJYRM33
Second survey that I took:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YL67VYW

This class has helped me better understand communication theories as a whole, and as a Photography minor the Rule of Thirds theory is something that I have been using for years. It is very important to me and in the communication and design field it is a must to remember. This can be used in my future career because it is something I will put into every photograph as I am working on a yacht. I also thought the Life Cycle theory was something I was not familiar with, but now can relate it to certain life morals.
I also thought that the Attractiveness Bias theory was good to read about in its article for future career paths, as you can never know what the employers are actually thinking. The asestics usability effect and Uses and gratification theory also played a big role in my semester of this class.

My Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JJ325SY

1:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YTC566W

2:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TQJZQ22

Among the information, there were concepts that I really enjoyed learning about. Here are some examples: The Uses and Gratification Theory, The Rule of Third, The Life Cycle, Cognitive Dissonance, and Attractive Bias. With these theories, it allows me to analyze posters or advertisements differently now that I understand the media's actual intent. My favorite concept was "Rule of Thirds" because it tapped into my creative side.
Now that I am aware of this theory, I look at pictures differently as I analyze the different angles and approaches the photographer utilizes. This can help me in the long run because I am an aspiring Personal Trainer, I can use this to create pictures and workouts plans of clients that I train who are living an healthier life. I can make my customers appeal because the different angles and approach that I use which can play a big role in the stimulation of convincing one to let me train them. These theories include the Rule of Thirds, Cognitive Dissonance Theory, Aesthetics and Usability Theory, the Life Cycle Theory and Attractive Bias. Previous to this class, I recognized all of the ideas behind these theories, but did not realize they had a name.
As a marketing major, I could easily end up with a job in advertising at some point. Part of the art of advertising is creating a feeling of desire in people for an object or service. All of these theories relate to things people find appealing, or how they satisfy feelings and needs. The Rule of Thirds, Aesthetics and Usability Theory, the Attractive Bias theories will be especially helpful when create eye-catching advertisements. The Cognitive Dissonance Theory and the Life Cycle Theory will be useful in understanding and creating the needs and wants of people and how to create desires using visual effects.

My Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/J33BMQ7

Survey #1: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JJZ85FQ

Survey #2:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YTC566W

The thing I enjoyed the most about this class is seeing the things I learned from this course unfold in front of me in real life. Like the rule of thirds, after learning this theory I began to look more deeply into photographers work to see if they were using this technique or not. Just studying different photos to see how prevalent or real this theory actually was.

Part: 2

My survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZVBBRVJ

Classmates surveys: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JJZ85FQ

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SD3RZXL

Part: 1
Throughout the semester I gained a better understanding of a variety of digital communication concepts. The five concepts that I learned and will utilize in my future were the attractiveness bias theory, the rule of thirds, cognitive dissonance, aesthetic-usability effect, and the picture superiority effect. Although I am not a communication's major, I can still utilize these theories in my career. For example, if I need to create PSA, I can use each of these concepts in an effor to make it as beneficial as possible.
Ultimately, I would like to have a future career as a counselor. Understanding theories such as the attractiveness bias and cognitive dissonance theories will be crucial in providing supplemental treatment. Effects such as the rule of thirds, aesthetic-usability, and picture superiority may effect the way I reach my clients, because I have gained better advertising techniques by learning about these concepts. All in all, even though I am not a communication's major the concepts I learned and implemented will be beneficial throughout the rest of my life.

Part: 2
My Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZSZZ52Y
Classmate Survey's I took:
A) https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YTC566W
B) https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JJ325SY

This class was enjoyable but I did feel that some of the forums were a bit pointless. It was an assignment not relating well with the context you tried to teach us. Also, in some cases they were ridiciously long for no reason. The best part about this class was the classmate interaction. It was cool to see how my peers thought about relevant events and it really made me view some things differently. I am more skilled in making graphic designs and applying the rule of thirds the pictures I take. As for learining about the terms, they really did not stick well to me. You were a great and helpful teacher.
