I feel that when the parent is comfortable with the teacher, they would be more open to sharing about the situations at home, child’s behaviour & would also be open to hearing about ways they can improve their child’s development at home. I would also be open to hearing any constructive criticism they might have so that i can improve the way i am with the child as well.

For example having empathy in understanding the different circumstances each child and their family faces and to intervene accordingly. One way could be to have a mutual code between Teachers and the parents to message through the school’s portal, email or telling me when they drop off their child in school (code could be ‘rainbow’) for us to understand that something happened in the family and would require us to be more patient with the child. One more attitude would be to maintain professionalism in front of parents. This is because some parents might be sceptical about what we mention about their child during parents teacher meeting or so.
