The topic of our survey is the international student and managing money, particularly EAP3 and EAP4 student at Swinburne University. In recent years, the number of international students has grown in many countries, including Australia. Managing money is the most important issue for students at university because they do not live with their families and have to pay for food or a house. Therefore, we decided to make questions and conduct a survey about this problem. Furthermore, we will ask the students a variety of questions about their experience of managing money after coming to Melbourne.

We want to understand how individual international students manage their money; for example how they find information on work and how much money they get from work per week or per month, and what they spend it on. In addition, we expect worrying about money could affect their study. For example, some students have financial problems and, as a result, it is not easy for them to study or eat. Finally, we foresee that most students will have enough money to cover their living costs and therefore, their studies will not be affected.

A significant number of students at Swinburne University spend $100 per day on food. Moreover, over ten percent of students at the university pay for food per day whereas under ten percent of the people that we surveyed pay for food per day. It surprised us that it is not what we expected because we expected that everyone will spend over $50 for food per day

This pie chart shows that the majority of the survey sample preferred to pay by card. They said that it is easy for them and saves time to pay this way. However, a fifth of the survey participants prefer cash over a card. The reason they choose this is that they do not have a credit card. Our survey question did not ask why they did not have a card.

As an international student, you are far away from your family which always supports you. Therefore, it is your responsibility to manage your money and assess your expenses. So we're talking about people from other countries and we want to give you a sense of how people in other countries spend their money and where they spend it. Students can save a lot of money by not going to restaurants to eat every day and then going home to eat or bring food to school. Moreover, they can use public transport to travel because it is easy and inexpensive to pay for. According to Insider Guides(2020), students should eat the foods that give them more energy, not the foods that make them full but are not good for their health and they can cook by themselves. Moreover, they can find a job to do because it can help them one part because in here everything we need is expensive and buy something that is necessary.

As the cost of living in Australia continues to rise – from groceries, transportation, dining out, and everything in between– we wanted to investigate what it truly costs an international student to live Down Under.https://insiderguides.com.au/what-an-international-student-spends-in-a-day/

Moreover, as an international student living on a budget, its always good practice to try and save on costs where possible. Cutting back on your weekly grocery shop doesn’t only free up income to splurge on exploring your city or enjoying fancy restaurants with friends, but it can also help reduce food waste and clutter in the fridge. Plus, eating on a budget doesn’t mean eating ‘badly’.https://insiderguides.com.au/best-ways-save-money-food-groceries/

Money management is important for international students. By planning ahead and starting to save early, students can set themselves up for success financially and academically. Saving and budgeting for college can help to alleviate stress once college application time rolls around, and there are many different options that students and their families can take advantage of.https://www.ignitespot.com/money-management-for-college-students

According to Insider Guides( 2020), we know how to spend and save money. Our group also found many interesting and impossible things in our survey. There are many advantages for international students to save their money. They can save for charge school, spend more per month, and give money to their parents.

Moreover, through the survey, we know that many people do not often pay with cash, and almost use cards because of convenience and ease of paying. According to our survey, international students spend the most on food, equipment, and home.

According to our survey, a large number of international students said that they are saving their money. According to Rebecca MacFarlane(2022), a great way to set up and stick to your budget is to create a visual aid, such as an Excel spreadsheet, that breaks down your income, expenses, and recreational spending. Depending on how frequently you get paid and/or pay your bills, you can set up your budget planner on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
