The attack on Pearl Harbor took place on December 7, 1941 when lots of planes from Japan attacked at 7:55am. This was because of the fact that the U.S. was not agreeing with what Japan was doing and how they were with the Axis Powers. This led to the U.S. stopping their supply to things to Japan, like oil. This enraged them and led to the pearl harbor attack to send a message. Because of this attack, many people were injured with burns, shock, horrible wounds, and machine gun fire. Many of them were able to be treated but there was still a handful of soldiers and citizens who sadly died because of the attack.

The Battle of Midway was an air war between Japan and the U.S. It took place from June 3, 1942 to June 6, 1942. The Midway Islands was owned by the U.S. and they really saw the importance of the land when they entered WWll where they had made some of the ships and helped prepare for war. Once Japan had seen the importance and power that the Island held, they wanted it for themselves. Many horrible injuries had happened at this time and other illnesses. Some of the main ones were dysentery, malaria, and malnutrition. Doctors had to treat multiple amputations and other injuries but had few resources due to the attack.

After Germany had already taken down South Africa and Sicily, their next plan of attack was to take down Calabria in Italy. U.S. and British army troops were there to help when Italy had gone to war against Germany on September 8. There were nearly 35,000 casualties from both Americans and British and the Germans nearly suffered 30,000 casualties. Many of the deaths that were not from the battlefield were caused by diseases such as malaria.

At the time, D-Day was seen as one of the most intense operations seen in history for air and land. It killed just over 150,000 people from the Allied countries. Due to all of these horrible casualties, there were many injuries among all these soldiers that healthcare providers like nurses had to work multiple hours past their shifts. They claimed how there was an immense amount of people injured and it was more than they could handle at times, or more than the hospital could host.

Battle of Hurtgen Forest

Battle of the Bulge

Battle of the Bulge was located in Ardennes, Belgium and Meuse River for exactly a month, from December 16, 1944 to January 16, 1945. It was one of the last major German offenses during WWll. This all started from the invasion of Normandy, when the allies decided to move further in and attack more places. After people saw how successful they were with their attacks, they named this battle the Bulge due to the success and wedge people were driving into allied lines. Germany was planning to attack 48 different divisions, which left many of the soldiers injured, or sadly dead. Nurses and other healthcare workers were fighting to keep many of the soldiers alive. One of the biggest things they saw was how the patients were in deep shock. Many of the wounds were not treated for up to 2 days because of the amount of people needing help, and only a fraction of helpers.

The Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima happened on August 6, 1945 and the Atomic Bombings of Nagasaki happened on August 9, 1945. The first was in Hiroshima which was early in the morning at 7:15am. over the next couple hours, many planes had passed, dropping bombs on them. The same happened to Nagasaki a few days later. This marked the first atomic bombing of war and thousands of people sadly passed away because of it. The amount of radiation poisoning that happened caused a lot of those deaths. Not only were the soldiers harmed, but so were the physicians. Out of the hundreds of physicians, only about 30 were able to provide care. Some of the major injuries were burns, radiation injuries, mechanical injuries, and falling debris or glass. The burns caused 60% of deaths in Hiroshima and 80% of deaths in Nagasaki.
