The Puritans were the first to come to America and had a strong hatred to those that supported the Catholic Church. Witch trials occurred when trying to find answers on who was a witch and who wasn't. If one was accused of being a witch, they were prisoned and not allowed to have a trial. The strikes were horrible, as many were hanged and even killed. One man was pressed to death as they were trying to get answers out of him by placing stones on him.
