On the first discussion, we got to decide on the theme, roles for each member and started planning on what to do. Yi Hong was the leader, I was the secretary/padlet chief administrator, Kathlyn is the desing I/C, Kenneth is the research I/C and Jee Won is the builder I/C. Our groups name was also created, it's called "High Five".

Our theme is responsibility. Our scenes for the diorama are Lila looking after her mother who is lying on the bed and Hari working hard in the fields. We got both ideas from Chapter 1 from the storybook. We also asked Kenneth to bring the shoe box for the diorama. Everyone had to read Chapter 1 again, just to ensure or regain memory on what's Chapter 1 all about in the book.

We got started on our shoe box during that Literature period. We asked some advice from Miss Jumiah and followed the advice she gave us. Examples like ideas, locations for the characters or plants, etc. Jee Won then cut the box out in shape and we decided on the materials used for the diorama. Some items like tape, glue, cardboard. We also planned to meet up for the project during the long holiday after cross country.

We meet up again on 18 April, Friday. I provided materials like scissors, tape, double-sided tape and coloured markers. While doing halfway, we decided to make a stand for the box so that it can face 45 degrees towards the audience to make a better and easier view. While Jee Won was making the stand, we were researching on YouTube. We watched videos on "How to Make a Diorama". After watching several videos, we roughly got the idea on how to do it with better and clearer info. Kenneth brought some old toys and an empty cereal box from his house and all were useful for our diorama. We used the toy trees and flower for the plants in the background. Cardboard as the house and other furniture. We thought of using clay to make the characters but it was not confirmed yet.

The stand's material used was one part of the cereal box and an ice-cream stick. Jee Won needed some time to do it so the rest we were discussing and researching. By the time the stand was ready, the time was up for the meet up as everyone was busy after that so we only meet up for one hour to one and a half hour. Jee Won had a hard time to make the stand to get in shape and get secured so he spent most of the times on the stand. After the stand was done, we spend time discussing on the characters' design and where they are supposed to be at. By the time discussed finished, the time for the meet up was up. So we went home to do what we're supposed to do. Kathlyn and Jee Won will continue to work on the designs and how the diorama will be built, Kenneth will continue to provide us with his old toys and cereal box. While I just have to record down what we do and Yi Hong will just ensure that we're doing fine as well as giving us help and ideas.

This discussion was on 23 April 2014, Wednesday. We stayed back after school to complete the furniture in the house. I brought my left over blue tacks and super glue to school too. The stand was also spoiled so Jee Won had to redo it all over again. While he was making, the rest of us started thinking of the decoration. We still haven not decide on which material to use for the characters, It would either be clay, blue tacks or plasticines. We would also need more ice-cream sticks or toothpicks to connect the body parts together as one. After Jee Won was done with the stand, he went on to build the house. The material used for the house is the cereal box that Kenneth brought. As he was making the house, we drew some sketch work of how the characters will look like. Jee Won also did the making of the house and it ended up what it was not supposed to be so we decided to make a new one during the next meet up as it was already quite late. That pretty much sums up the day after Jee Won completed the house as all of us had other things on or need to go home.

We had a meet up on 26 April, Saturday. We finally decided to use clay for the materials for our characters so we bought 2 clay and 2 packets of wooden sticks from Daiso. We changed the idea of the house as we did the building of the house wrongly. In the end, we decided to use the wooden sticks to build the house and the fence. I also provided some coloured construction papers for the ground. The fence was a new idea and it os is used to separate the house and the field. It only cost us a total of $8. We divided the money and everyone had to pay. After buying, we went to a shelter place near the Sun Plaza Park at Tampines and started working on our characters and the new house. Kathlyn and Kenneth were making the characters using the clay while Jee Won and I was building the fence. Yi Hong was helping both sides and giving some advice to all of us.

We managed to finish up the characters, the fence and some parts of the house. We didn't make it for the house as the time was running out for some people. We agreed to finish up the rest on Monday after school and then went home after that. We had a good time doing the works and was looking forward for Monday's final meet up.

Today, 28 April, Monday, we had our final discussion. We finished all the things we need to do for the diorama. We finished up the house and even made some new changes. We had some leftover sticks after building the house, so we made use of the sticks as the toilet room walls. The small plastic bag from the wooden sticks is being cut into half, thus being stick onto the roof using a tape. It is used for the curtains for the house, as there was no door for the house. Kathlyn also made the grass in the fields using the normal A4 size blank paper. She cut the paper into the grass shapes and pasted it on the green construction paper in the shoe box. We all felt relieved as we finally done our diorama. All the characters and objects are being stick nicely in the shoe box and everything was ready. We were happy and would love to work together again. After all, we had a fun experience making this diorama and hope we have a chance to do it again! Thank you Miss Jumiah for your help too!
