#1

First entry – classes as usual, the 9 to 5. Something was especially interesting today, we had a cadaver visit at the dissection hall. I have to admit that it was a very fruitful and beneficial session. it would never occur to me that the visit would leave me with a mixture of emotions – excited, solemn, inquisitive (obviously). Excited because it was my first ever experience, solemn as the bodies being used as educational instruments were being left unclaimed, and inquisitive because it was all very new and thought-provoking to me.

Also decided to be a little productive in the evening, so my friends and I decided to go for a jog to the park and played a little rugby touch. Its also a fairly new sport to me since a friend introduced it to us a few weeks ago. Rugby touch in a sentence : a little rough but highly satisfying. I’ve always loved playing all sorts of sports since I was a young girl, and I’m extremely grateful to have met so many talented and wonderful friends here in CUCMS.

However, I have to say that the highlight of my day had to be the movie Split by one of my favourite producers of psychological thrillers, M.Night Shyamalan. A story of a man suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder, has 23 different personalities that are horrifying, with another one silently emerging, the last personality, the Beast. The whole movie was a representation of people with DID and revolved around a man who unconsciously abducted teenage girls and murdered them mercilessly because he was being taken over by his wild personalities. I have to say it was EPIC and deserved a solid 8/10.

Here’s to more magnificent psychological thrillers in the future!

Tip of the day : Always find time to destress to keep your mind and body healthy. Always be thankful and NEVER ever forget or take any of the good things people have done to you for granted.
                                                                                                  B.A.

#2

Another Friday, with the usual Religious Studies class with Ustaz Aqib. Learned a few new things today about how to live as a better Muslim and Mukmin. Afterall, life is all about learning and striving to improve ourselves to become better every single day.

I realised that our ego and nafs are difficult to control and have the potential to harm the people around us. Which is true, and makes me think, why do we sometimes ignore the things that can help us improve ourselves? Is it because of our ego, or is our mind playing defense mechanism games as a shield to live up to the societal standards of “normal”?

Anywho, we had to attend our replacement Biology lecture after Friday Prayers and it was pretty interesting too, despite the fact that my body decided to hit the snooze button 10 minutes right before class ended. To add to the humiliation, Sir E called out my name in front of the whole class. Nonetheless, I felt super refreshed right after that short 2 seconds of “Batrisyiaaa…” (GOD that had to be the most embarrassing moment since the first day of uni)

Tip of the day : It's okay to challenge your mind and the way you think and don't be afraid to try everything "halal" thing in life, life is temporary anyway.

                                                                                                       B.A.

#3

Ended the week mixed emotions, mostly happy, I think. Decided to head back to my house in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail with Farah and Sarah, since they were free. We had our first sleepover together outside of our hostel. It was really fun. Woke up at around 11 am and got some things ready, by things I meant my long overdue laundry. Hehe. Nothing much happened today, spent the day washing all of our laundry and just chilled and relaxed in front of the television. Oh, I also played a Japanese game on my brother’s PS4 for the first time ever. Surprisingly, I kind of enjoyed it to be honest. Eventhough it didn’t require much thought as one would just press all of the buttons on the joystick.. at least I did. So, I think I can see myself playing more PS4 in the future, hopefully with my brother.

Talking about my brother, I realised how much I missed him. We are super close with one another but since both of us went to boarding school, me in Tunku Kurshiah and him in Malay College, we don’t really get the opportunity of seeing each other that often. But all of this, in the name of education. I thought I would get to see him more often now that I’m in a university in Cyberjaya, but why do I feel like I’m further away than I was in the UK. I guess that comes with growing up and becoming an adult. Life just doesn’t get easier, but at the same time, you learn how to become stronger and more independent.

Back to the topic, we ended the day by having dinner at Mamak Q Bistro nearby. Nothing much, but it’s probably the best mamak restaurant of all mamak restaurants in Malaysia. Had my rojak mee with dried sotong. Ahh, makes me miss Penang even more. So ended our tiring day with some gossips and hit the hay. Till next time!

Tip of the day : Never be embarrassed to express all feelings of love to your parents and siblings. You’ll never know when Allah S.W.T. will take them away from you.

                                                                                                     B.A.
