Albert Einstein once said "Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school!". He ment that besides he rarely went to school, he turned out a very sucessful and inteligent person. So, he belives school does not teach us how to live, only teaches us how to get a good job. Sir Peter Blake, on the other hand, thinks that "..., new thinking is rare" not because, of school - like Einstein thought - but because of technology. And I do agree with both of them.
I agree with Einstein because what gives us experience in life is not school but life it . For exemple: if someone is being robbed, he or she can't use chimistry or maths to defend themselfs, so it really is true that school doesn't prepare us for, life, only for a post.
I also agree with Sir Peter because our era is a digital era. We use technology even at school and the, truth is that nowadays no one can imagine what would feel like not having a phone or a television. And thanks to all of those enovations, the human being has lost the hability to think and to be creative because when we don't know something, we can just google it and avoid thinking.
So, in conclusion, both of them were right about school teaching us several subjects but doesen't teaching us how to survive. And also, because like Sir Peter insinuated, humanity is losing its hability to think how it should all due to technology and evolution.

Madalena n°15
Tânia n°28

Einstein’s quotation means that the school program has strict criteria and students get tired of such a demanding system. At school we learn so many things that we would never remember when we become adults and get a job. That’s why life experience is so important to complete our education.
Sir Peter Blake’s quote has to do with the presence of technology in the classroom. Nowadays technology is a very important tool for both teachers and students. We can all benefit from the growing information exchange that keeps us connected to the world.

In my opinion technology is very important to improve the learning process because it keeps students engaged. School is sometimes a bit boring and there is a lack of imagination. We are waisting our time with subjects that are apparentely worthless. The focus should be on the education areas which we are interested in. Students have different desires and dreams but they are treated in the classroom as if they were all alike.
That’s why technology is an important benefit nowadays. Over the last few decades, technology has changed the human life. We are literally going through another revolution: the digital revolution. It is slowly improving our education system which seems to be stuck a few hundred years in the past.
Although technology is making the learning process more interesting there’s also a disadvantage: it is becoming addictive thus promoting loneliness and social isolation. The key is to find the right balance between pros and cons.

In conclusion I think that students should have a word to say . Technology can be a bit scaring but if we can profit from the benefits offered to us it can be an interesting challenge .

Maria Magni nº20
Bruna Cabá nº
