At this age, students are focusing on marching, walking, running, and stretching. The movement doesn't stop here though! This can be the very beginning of introduction to dance. Not only learning the trendy dances that students would know and recognize, but also cultural dances and songs.

"Students demonstrate respect for their well being and the well being of others. They also respect the personal space of others and understand how dance promotes health, physical safety and reduces the risk of injury."

At this age, students should be looking out for the safety of themselves and others. They realize that certain rules should be followed in order to be successful. Students have learned that movement is healthy for the body.

At this point, students should be able to observe movement activities and recognize details from it (repetition, balance, contrast, etc.). Students can create their own dances by memorizing the steps and process it takes to perform it.
