Her article has also been medically reviewed by Physician and Public Health Professional, Anju Goel (MD, MPH).&nbsp;</div><div><strong>P- </strong>In their about us section, they state that they exist solely to help people make the best decision for their health. I would say that they are more informative, and their review board is very diverse so I don't think that there is a certain bias expressed. They also push writing in a judgment-free way that "empowers you to take an active role in your health".</div>]]></description>

The study compared 8 brains of people who had COVID verses 14 who didn’t. It showed that </strong>“gene expression had been affected in some astrocytes, which were not working properly.”<strong> This shows that COVID can cause serious neurological damage.&nbsp;<br></strong><br></div><div><strong><br>Accuracy: I believe this article is accurate. All but one of the references listed at the bottom of the article were written in 2021. Also, they consult neurosurgeons from universities like Yale and people who preformed autopsies on victims of COVID.&nbsp;<br></strong><br></div><div><strong><br>Authority: Michael Marshall is the author. He seems more than qualified. He has written other articles about the brain like </strong><strong><em>How COVID-19 can damage the brain</em></strong><strong> and </strong><strong><em>The hidden link between mental disorders</em></strong><strong>.&nbsp;<br></strong><br></div><div><strong><br>Purpose: The purpose is simple to inform. They aren’t trying to sell anything. They are just trying to explain what COVID can do to your brain. It says in the article that 80% of hospitalized patient had neurological issues. This clearly effects many people and the author was trying to inform.&nbsp;<br></strong><br></div>]]></description>

It appears to be that Houston Methodists is the sponsor for this article and website.<br><br></div><div>P- I believe this article may be a little biased as they are promoting a PCR test at their own facilities instead of at home test.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>Based on my analysis I would say this article is not CRAAP approved because of the date the article was posted and the fact that they don’t list any other sources with links is a red flags to me.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

She has written for many reputable&nbsp; news sources in her career. When looking for the education of Searing there is no information found so it is hard to know if the author has any education within the medical field.&nbsp;<br><br>P- The purpose of this article is to inform the reader. Throughout the article it gives research and sources. The author wrote this piece in a very informative way and didn't use persuasive language in order to make the reader side with one agenda or the other.&nbsp;<br><br>From my analysis I would say that this article would pass the CRAAP test because it gives journal entries written by reputable doctors and gives data that has been stated by the CDC.  </div>]]></description>

I chose this article as a less serious one) <br><strong>Reliability: </strong>For what I googled, the topic is relevant as it does give me options and ideas on what medications to take if I were trying to 'prevent' COVID. <br><strong>Accuracy:</strong> I would not say this article is 100% accurate as scientists and researchers have determined that we cannot take medication to 'prevent' from getting COVID.<br><strong>Authority:</strong> The author is clearly identified at the top of the article. At the bottom of the article it gives a brief description of the author and other topics he has written about. It also gives links to a few other articles he has written. I would agree that the author is clearly stated, but it does not say that he has any scientific background, nor is he qualified to write and give solutions regarding COVID. <br><strong>Purpose:</strong> The purpose of this website and article is to inform about science, health, and illness in America. All the quotes, claims, and statements were also all backed up with numbers, and quotes from the Doctor who made them so I would say it is reliable as well.&nbsp; <br><strong>A-</strong> Accuracy is still hard to fully say just because it has been so recent.&nbsp; So far everything stated in the article has been true and proved with testing or experience, but more time is needed to help determine the true accuracy.<br><strong>A-</strong> The Doctor this article was written about and has made these statements is Dr. Peter McCullough who is an internist, cardiologist, and trained epidemiologist who has become an expert in early COVID-19 treatment, so authority passes.&nbsp; <br><strong>P- </strong>The purpose is to inform and explain to us some numbers we don't see as often in the news.&nbsp; The author and Dr. McCullough did not make any statement involving politics or the normal Covid spill, just numbers and data they have collected.<br><br>Overall, every column except accuracy easily passed, only reason accuracy is debatable is because the data they have to work with is still new so it could always change in some aspects. I would say that it passes the currency test.<br><strong>Reliability</strong>- The author, Apoorva Mandavilli, has been writing about the World health organization, the pandemic, vaccines, and more. She has also won the Victor Cohn prize for excellence in medical science reporting. Also, it was published by the New York times (which is famously reliable) so I would say this passes the reliability test.<br><strong>Accuracy</strong>- The article has many quotes from the CDC which is what it is reporting on. Seeing this, I would say it's pretty accurate.<br><strong>Authority</strong>- Again, this author is a person who has won an official award in medical science reporting so I would say that the authority here is well given.<br><strong>Purpose</strong>- The purpose here seems to be to inform the people. Seeing this, I would say that the information is likely not swayed by any company or individual. I would say that this passes the purpose requirement.&nbsp;<br><br>Overall, I think that this article passes the CRAAP test and is a reliable source to use and listen to.</div>]]></description>

So I believe the authenticity of this article. <br><br><strong>P</strong>- The purpose of this is to inform the readers on how to travel, if you must, safely, while still keeping those around you safe from COVID-19. I do not see this article being biased, as no opinions are listed and it is straight factual.<br><br>Therefore, this passes the CRAAP test.</div>]]></description>

This is why it meets the criteria because I wanted an article talking about if the side effects of a vaccine were really all in a person's head. <br><strong>A-</strong> The author's name is Daryl Austin a journalist based in Utah. He has written for a variety of highly respected newspapers such as Wall Street Jornal, National Geographic, The Atlantic, Psychology Today, and The New York Times. I would say he is reliable if he is allowed to put out his own articles in them. <br><strong>A-</strong> I would say the article's accuracy is very well backup. Throughout his article, he links the studies and other websites that allow him to verify his claims in the article. He also quotes researchers in today's society allowing his claims to be verified thoroughly.<br><strong>P-</strong>&nbsp;The website is on Desert News, which its purpose is to put out articles that are occurring at the moment. It also tends to see both sides of the story or to find common ground among the events that are ongoing in society. </div>]]></description>

This organization is extremely qualified.<strong><br><br>Purpose - </strong>The purpose of this article is to inform U.S. citizens of how beneficial wearing a mask is for preventing the spread of COVID-19&nbsp; by providing studies and statistics that have proven this over and over. The article also touches on how wearing a mask does not have a detrimental effect on one's breathing and it does not inhibit young people as they learn to understand the facial expressions and emotions of others.</div>]]></description>

From what I can tell most of these hyperlinks take you to another article associated with Johns Hopkins Medicine. There doesn't seem to be any info left out.<br><mark>Purpose</mark>-&nbsp;The purpose of this article is to answer common questions that get asked by parents and guardians of children when it comes to getting the Covid-19 vaccine. So she does have&nbsp;authority.<br>Purpose- To inform people about whether or not a rapid test is reliable and whether or not you should do a standard testing instead of rapid testing.
