Based on the short story “The Model Millionaire” ,that was written by Oscar Wilde, the character that I prefer the most is Hughie Erskine. Firstly, the characteristics that Hughie possesses is generosity towards other’s people in need. This can be seen from the scene where Hughie generously gives his last sovereign coin because he thinks that the beggar needs it the most. In my opinion, being generous can bring other people’s happiness and make them feel appreciated. Hughie shows great concern for human dignity by lending to someone he feels has less, without expecting anything in return. Rather than being conceited or pretentious, his giving comes from a genuine place. Besides that, Hughie is determined to financially establish himself through his own efforts, not idleness or inheritance before marrying Laura. It is obvious how he puts effort on looking for a jobs multiple times even though he keeps failing. Laura's father promises her hand in marriage once Hughie saves £10,000 on his own merits. Though a perhaps outdated notion, this goal motivates Hughie's determination to gain financial independence. Saving such a vast sum indicates incredible discipline and persistence in pursuit of the marriage. In conclusion, Hughie exhibits admirable grit in pushing himself professionally and financially for a high goal. That patient work ethic and willingness to keep working towards self-resilience resonates with virtue.

Based on the short story ’Model Millionaire’ written by Oscar Wilde the theme that is the most suitable for the short story is appreance can be deceiving. This theme is the core plot twist that makes the story so surprising. A wealthy Baron pretends to be a poor beggar deceiving all around him including Hughie. This can be seen in the story that the beggar being the model for the painting but in reality the beggar is a wealthy Baron in Europe.This is deception that the Baron appearance does not match his actual means drives the narrative and irony. Besides, the next theme is kindness. This is because Hughie was sympathetic to the beggar and give him a sovereign and Baron Hausberg was kind to give Hughie the money he need to marry Laura. For me be kind to other or doing good means that putting other people needs before our own. The story relies entirely on a wealthy man pretending temporarily to be a poor beggar as its key plot twist. Therefore, being kind to others helps them feel good and helps the world a better place.In conclusion, it is clear that the most suitable theme that related in the story is appearance can be deceiving. Based on the short story ‘The Model Millionaire’ that was written by Oscar Wilde, one of the values that I can apply in my life is to be generous in every aspect. Spreading kindness and being generous might bring thousand of smile in people’s life. This can be seen from the scene where Hughie gives money to the old beggar because he thought that the old beggar is poor eventhough the beggar is actually a millionaire . In my opinion, if we being kind to people, automatically people will give the same thing like how we treat them. This can be seen through the scene where Baron gives 10,000 pounds to repay hughie’s kindess. The next value that I can apply is to be loyal toward others. This is because loyalty is one of the important thing that every couple should have. This can be seen through Laura’s loyalty towards Hughie for stay in relationships with him eventhough she knows that Hughie is having a financial problem. I believe that if we being loyal to our partner, we will not be having any issues that can ruin the relationship. In conclusion, the two values that I can apply in my life are being kind-hearted as it can make other people feel close to us and being honest can make us being trustworthy.

Based on the short story entitled The Model Millionaire that was written by Oscar Wilde, if I were the author the part I would to make Hughie as an owner of the bakery shop in this story(MP1). Therefore, it show Hughie as a rich person in the city(MP1). The reason I would change in this part because, when Hughie become a rich man he can get marry with his first love, Laura (E1). Another reason is he would not get downgraded by Laura’s father because of his poor life (E1). Personally, this would change Hughie’s life more better than in the story (J1). Besides, I also would change Laura’s family life to a poor family due to her father jobless life(MP2). It is obvious how Laura’s father downgraded Hughie until he feel sad about it(E2). Also, Laura’s father used to challenge Hughie to get ten thousand pounds of his own to marry his daughter(E2). Personally, that would change Laura’s father behaviour become a respectful person (J2). In conclusion, the story would change to Hughie are going to be an owner of bakery shop and become a rich man in the city and Laura’s family become a poor family due to his father jobless life.
