He has only earned 2 credits in his high school career.There have been multiple school staff interventions and a parent meeting this year. Since the interventions have happened, he has had 5 discipline referrals. His motivation is 0 (value and expectation=0) because he is so behind in his classes. School staff must come together as a team and break down things that he can work on/accomplish. He said, "I am so behind, it's too much to do, so why bother?" Success so he has something to build on, which may motivate more responsible behavior, which may bring more success and on and on! Since this is the beginning of the second quarter, the quarter grade should begin again. A new start? This is definitely a tough one.  I am wondering if your school has a no zero policy, with 50% being a minimum grade. Sometimes a jump start helps.  As you said, he needs to do work and experience success from that. Good luck.
