Defining your CLIL level and goal setting by EUN Partnership aisbl

After reading the article, try to define your CLIL level:

Are you a beginner, an explorer, an engineer, going above and beyond or are you an expert?
After defining your level, try to think of what it takes for you to develop in this area:

What support would you need and how could you start? How can eTwinning help you?
The "How CLIL checklist" may also be helpful. Then, post your comments below.

I am an explorer. ETwinning can help me and my students, because the projects are designed around different topics while the language students need to use is English. They will be motivated to use the language in real situations with real people who do not speak their language, so having one common language is a must. At the same time they will learn something more about the topic of the project.

I'm something between a beginner and an explorer. My course is in French and I think the application of the CLIL approach will always be circumstantial and not systematic. Surely an eTwinning project will help to apply CLIL's approach to my classroom, through collaboration with other teachers of various specialties and depending on our engagement topics. The language level of the children is initially an obstacle, not very easy to overcome, due to the limited teaching hours (in primary school: 2 hours / week)

I'm a beginner, since I have not systematically used CLIL. In my previous eTwinning project, the subjet/topic was a means to an end (language learning), and if I understand CLIL, the language is a means to an end (subject learning). My students are beginners, and so I focus a great deal on them learning the language, and the subjects/topics become the medium. But I think it would be interesting to try this approach.

Well, I think I am an engineer. I have used CLIL in my lessons and I am sure it benefits students and myself. I develop my own material in order to suit my students' needs and levels best. I love teaching with the Design and Technology teacher as well as the ICT teacher as creativity is always a must in our lesson planning. I like to involve the school gardners for example as well if the topic is related to Nature. I have never done any E-Twinning project, although I think it can be really rewarding and challenging at the same time.

As it was said in the article, it's not easy to find a category I might properly fit in, so I would basically position myself in the middle of the scale with some intrusions above and below. By this I mean that I have a repertoire of activities I can draw from, I'm cabale of implementing them and depending on the topics I coowork with fellow teachers. The approach is student centred for sure and the completion of tasks is key to the methodology. Visuals are also something I'm keen on, they help students memorise and reflect while the lerning is in progress. Etwinning looks like the ideal platform to get in touch with other educational facilities and develop projects that feel real and hands-on.
