1. The industries could dictate prices for different types of customers.
2. The workers would wash their hands where there meat sat.
3. The workers would use scraps that have fallen on the floor and reprocess them, full of germs.
4. They would use spoiled meat instead of fresh meat to save money.
5. Rodents would crawl over the meat and they'd still serve it.

They created the Meat Inspection Act of 1906, which made it so that it was a federal crime to mislabel meat products being sold. It also required that meat products have to produced and packaged in sanitary conditions. In additions, they created the Pure Food and Drug administration Act that made sure that any food regarding unsafe substances can not be sent to the public. This helped make American's more safe and the food much better.

I found out a bunch of new information reading these articles. A lot of the stuff I found out was absolutely disgusting. All of this surprised me, because the conditions were so horrifying. The unsanitary conditions and the gross treatment of the meat made me feel sick. For these reasons, I am very happy that they made laws to fix this. It also made me wonder what the citizens thought when they found out about the food they were eating. It made me feel bad for them, but also grateful in the fact that it isn't like that anymore.
