On a hot evening in June, hundreds of young aspiring scientists crowd outside the gates of The Gulf Aviation Centre. Out of the blue, a deafening boom is heard and a boy is seen zooming out of the building, strapped to a jet pack. 17 year old Alex, a student at Cimera High, along with his team had managed to make a scientists  biggest challenge, using ingredients from the pantry and recycled cardboard. The real question is, how?

Alex, Natasha and Simon are infamous for playing pranks and landing themselves in detention, and a recent prank played on the principal led to the formation of there group "The Rebels". 15 days of staying back at school and the jetpack was ready, suprising the entire school.Being brilliant gamers, they wished to make a jetpack similar to one used in their favourite childhood game, Jetpack Joyride.

This year, the competition presented by many teams was quite challenging, as being at home gave them ample amounts of time. Many teams went for a medical angle, some inventing auto-cleaning masks that can be used multiple times. However, Team Cimera was able to win a Guinness World Record, being the worlds youngest group of individuals to successfully create a functioning jetpack from scratch. Alex and Natasha earned a scholarship to MIT, while Simon opted to intern at a research centre in Sierra Lione, producing a cure to widespread fungal infections.

This immense accomplishment has opened the eyes of students worldwide, proving that everyone and anyone can do anything, no matter your background and participation rate in school. This achievement  has also encouraged the management to form an Innovators Club, headed by seniors with experience in participating in local and international competitions. Many have taken the example of these three youths and taken to social media to promote projects made by students in third world countries. This event really proved that a push in the right direction is all it takes to make a difference.

Through the hoop; Under 15 womens team tops the league! 

On the 11th of August 2021, our schools womens under 15 basketball team have proved themselves to be outstanding athletes. They have reserved the gold as they took the very first place in the Annual Interschool Basketball League. The league takes place every year and all international schools are welcome to participate. This time around, our team of 9 competed against 13 school teams. As a member of the very team, this is a very proud moment for our school and our coaches.

19 0ct 2019, seemed to be the blessed day, as finally after losing for 3 times back In previous years, the girls team came up with their well-deserved trophy in inter-region basketball match. There were two rounds in total and in the first one it was easier for us to take a lead as we all were really motivated to achieve it and our rival team seemed hopeless as their strong players were not there due to their personal reasons, so it became a piece of cake for us to achieve victory in first round. 

After achieving victory in the first round, it made us more enthusiastic to make our way to finals as well so due to that our coach and our team started working with great zeal and dedication. This time the coach we had was well trained and experienced who taught us so because of that as well we were able to get victory in our first round even though in the beginning when the match started we all were really anxious but our coach motivated us and said that 'you only lose when you give up, so keep going until you win. Those words felt like an energy booster for us as after that we made remarkable progress and got our trophy. 

when we came back to school, an award ceremony was organized in order to appreciate our efforts. Over there cheers and loud slogans filled the air as we came on stage.
All the students especially our juniors were really inspired by this as this event was given coverage nationally as well.

 As the team of PECHS won so because of that the owner of Beaconhouse himself congratulated the whole campus through a heartfelt post on social media which made our whole campus really proud.

It was a pleasant atmosphere. We were ready to get awarded, the crowd was cheering us. With our positive minds we started the Basketball game. However at the time that we started playing we thought that we will lose the game as the Rounds passed and the score was 1:3 and we were 2 points behind. But who knew that the success was waiting for us and in the last round we scored a Hattrick with 3 consecutive points scored.

Let the exploration begins! Planet Mars here we come

Our school is one of the lucky schools which got the chance to participate in Nasa’s space exploration program that lets young astronauts of our nation to put their innovation and critical thinking to the test. After 2 consecutive years of failure, we won the international competition which enabled us to build such a structure that can support humans in the hostile environment of our neighboring planet Mars. Humanity has dreamt to step foot on Mars since the successful moon landing but currently lacking the intellect to support humans on the red planet. But how did these teens managed to design such a complex structure? 

The selected bright minds were from all over the world but unified under the same school. There were series of rounds in which we were barely successful and the prize money was reinvested back into the project, which brought us to the final week-long showdown. Nasa invited the two teams to 3D print a 1/3 scale version of their habitat live, in front of judges.  

This year our team’s group leader, Alex decided to take our final designs to a former Nasa engineer who also happened to be his relative, to get it checked from him. Our team worked tirelessly day and night to achieve our goal, therefore there were no major changes that were made by the expert. The change this year, however, was that the team members even worked in their free time to sail the boat to the finish line.

Winning this competition has given us the chance to be a part of this extensive space exploration program and our structure will be used to support the first human colony on the red planet which will open a new path of exploration. Moreover participating in this competition opened the opportunity for our team to get a job at NASA after our graduation. Beaconhouse school system has also gained worldwide recognition and the trophy that was won by our team will be proudly seated on the shelf of the school's head office.

Soccer is a game which requires both physical fitness and intelligence, days of hard work and practice to train your body and muscles to work with your mind in a synchronized manner. I believe everyone would agree that soccer is not a game of luck. This year our school also got an achievement in this incomparable game due to the team’s impeccable performance and got recognition nationally opening more opportunities for the soccer team in future.

The tournament “The National Soccer Championship”, was a National Tournament happened last month in September between the teams belonging to different clubs, schools, and academies all over the country. The initiative of the tournament was taken by the education and health ministry to revive the spirit of sports amongst the youngsters. Our school team “Beaconite Shrouds” also participated in the tournament and after reaching in the finals the team gave tough time to 20 most decisive teams in the team and became the conquerors of the golden trophy. 

Obviously hard work did play a major role and there were days when we constantly used to play and practice without even taking into notice what time of the day is it, all of the time and blood we put into brought us closer to our dream. Even the coach says, “this year I got such player who really had the enthusiasm and zeal to become the best and their performance reminded me of my teenage.” No doubt the coach was also very supportive and cooperative. A major factor which also played in our success was unity and compromise. The unity was in the players although the compromise was there with the teachers who patiently used to explain us the topics we missed and taught us true sportsman spirit. 

The benefits of this success cannot be left unnoticed. The education and health ministry decided to give hundred percent scholarship to all the layers until graduation. Moreover, the ministry also decided to finance the needs of all the players like player’s kits, trainings and providing them the best facility to practice. The whole team was also rewarded with 1 million rupees. The school also got national recognition and an award for caring for students’ physical fitness. 

Hope this was appealing for everyone and motivate them to chase their dreams as well

Believe me when I say the 7 time inter school Football champions were defeated by a rising team from The Beaconhouse School System. Namely, ’The BeaconKnights’ claimed our first Interschool trophy when we went head to head with the notorious ‘City’s XI’ last Saturday. The 2020-21 season had been an impeccable drive for us, where we won 12 games in a row. The coach, when interviewed, shared his thoughts claiming that there is more yet to come from the ‘Knights’. 

The 90-minute critical battle between the two ended with a 5-3 scorecard to us. We gave it our 110pc, and came out victorious, this was worth the blood, sweat and excruciating hours of training we spent. We were literally playing a game of dominos, where we knocked out six teams in a row, one after the other. The competition lasted 3 months, where 10 teams competed to achieve the prestigious golden trophy. After years of getting kicked out of the championship, we replaced our coach and made some changes to our squad, which resulted in us holding the trophy.

They called us egregious names when we lost in the previous championships. At the time, we were sore losers and we had ‘accepted the L’, as most teenagers say. Nevertheless, we struck back vigorously and earned our respect back, I feel like that is exactly what we ‘The Knights’ needed. It acted as an immense step towards motivating us for the future. Obviously, we made our school proud, as the shiny golden Inter School Football Championship trophy now sits in the school's hall of fame. As this helps us welcome footballers to the school who would like to compete and win more trophies for us.

The Spring Sports season left most of the Beaconite athletes to succumb to vigorous training and intense practice in order to compete in the various inter –school tournaments, whilst juggling upcoming exams and school work. Though, some teams such as the Girls’ Basketball team and the Boys’ Cricket team had exemptions from classwork, due to exceptional performance and consistent winnings in previous tournaments. However, the soccer team was looked down upon, considered to be the school's faded beacon, due to the fact that just 7 years ago the “BeaconKnights” were the soccer team to keep an eye on, with their staggering performance in the 2014 National Spring tournament. 

In 2014, Beaconhouse had won the biggest youth football tournament ever held in Pakistan, it was the first time that Beaconhouse had ever made it to football nationals. The BeaconKnights team had not only won the National Spring tournament of 2014, but had continued to win for 4 straight years. For the last 3to 4 years Beaconhouse had failed to win any major tournaments, and had not been able to make it to nationals even once. However, we are not here to talk about the past. 

 This year was different, despite being called names such as “washed out” and “faded/dimmed beacon”, this generations soccer team put in an immense amount of work to restore the team's reputation. Not only that, on this year's roster is Hassan Bashir, the youngest player on the team and widely recognized as Pakistan’s football prodigy. Just days into the tournament, the BeaconKnights had made into the National Spring tournament and demolished most of the opposition. With their 6 wins and 0 losses, the BeaconKnights had eased their way into the semifinals. 

The much-awaited match between the two legendary rival schools, Beaconhouse and Islamabad Tech commenced after a short 5-day break in order to give the players time to prepare for their next matches. It has been rumored that one of the reasons for BeaconKnights success had been due to the return of Coach Akhtar, a renowned coach who led the team to victory back in 2014. 

In the end BeaconKnights blew the competition out of the water and brought home the trophy which renewed the team's status as one of the best teams in Pakistan. Beaconhouse is once again considered the top school for both aspiring athletes, and intellectual students.
