Theseus was born in Troezen, he is son of the God Poseidon and The Mortal Aegus, which both had a relationship with his mother, Aethra. Although Theseus has both a mortal father and mother, because Poseidon is in his blood, he received Godly traits like strength.

Theseus's parents begged him to go to Athens by sea, but he refused and went by land which was harder to travel by and less safe. Theseus defeated many things on his journey like the giant Sciron that kicked people off his cliffs while they washed his feet to be eaten by his turtle, Sinis, also known as the 'Pine Bender' a man who was known for ripping people in half with pine trees, and Procrustes a man with a "magic" bed that would chop your legs off if you were too tall or chain you to the bed and stretch you if you were too short.

When Athera, Theseus's mother, thought it was time, she took Theseus to a large rock and told him to lift it. He did it with no trouble and she saw that he was ready so she sent him to Athens.

The Story of Theseus and The Minotaur

There was a battle between Crete and Athens. Minos the king of Crete's son died at the fault of Athens, he declared war and won the ability to declare tributes to be sacrificed yearly to the Minotaur, Theseus volunteered to take place of the tributes and killed the Minotaur. On his way back to Crete, Theseus promised his dad he would return with black sails on his ship, Theseus forgot and came back with white sails

Ariadne

Ariadne, the daughter of the king of Crete, fell madly in love with Theseus while under the influence of the Goddess Aphrodite. Theseus met her as he was going to slay the Minotaur and she gave him a both a sword to slay the monster as well as a thread for him to track his way in the maze of the labyrinth so that he could find his way back out once he had defeated the Minotaur.

Thesues's Father Dies

When Theseus left to go to Crete to kill the Minotaur he told his father that if he returned he would change his black sails to white. On his way back to Athens he forgot to change his sails back, and when his father saw the black sails he jumped of a cliff into the sea. As a result of his death, that stretch of water was named the Aegean after Theseus's father king Aegeus.
