Stress is something that affects everybody, but what may not be known is how dangerous stress can be to children and teens in regards to school. Education is important, that in itself is no question, but we have to understand students needs and wants, personal issues, and the educational system itself. Testing and homework are two major instances in which students can feel overwhelmed, anxious, and disappointed in themselves. When this happens, it causes students to shut down, perform poorly, and distract them from important goals. There are active ways to compact the issues of stress and anxiety both students, teachers, and parents can introduce to help ease the situation and push kids through the system in a successful and meaningful way. By changing the classroom environment to be more friendly and welcoming to students can aid in a reduction of stress. Giving students more freedom when it comes to lowering the amount of homework, scheduling important test on dates where there isn't much workload, and supporting students during their learning time can all give them more confidence and the feeling that they aren't alone in getting an education. Parents also can talk with their children about things they feel are important to them, help establish a schedule at which their kids can take time off to better themselves (both physical and mentally), and promote positive aspects of life for their children to focus on. Stress in life is normal, but when stress starts to affect a person's behavior and way of thinking, then it can become toxic and even deadly; we mustn't forget, we're in this together, and there are various ways at which a person can and should take to relief unwanted stress. A well balanced support system, personal drive and ambitions, and aspirations for the future, are ways to reduce stress for students at every level of the educational system, and help them on their way to changing the future of our world for the better.
