These targets included New York City and Washington D.C. Two of the planes hit the World Trade Center in New York City causing 2,750 deaths. One hit the Pentagon, causing 184 deaths, and one got retaken by the passengers on the plane, crashing Pennsylvania. None of the passengers on any of the planes survived.

It was caused by a myriad of reasons. One of which is that in the period of time leading up to the Recession, the real estate market was booming with prices for houses rising. This caused people to invest in real estate. To capitalize on this, mortgage lenders started lending to more and more people. They were lending to anybody, even if their credit score was low. This kind of lending was called subprime lending. These loans were adjustable-rate mortgages, meaning the interest rate could change.
