Behavior is shaped by the environment factors and corresponding responses. Children "operate" on their environment to achieve rewards or refrain from punishments.

This relates to our age group because children ages 2-3 will alter their behaviors due to their consequences or rewards that are given. If a negative outcome occurs from a child's behavior then the child most likely will change their behavior. If they notice a positive behavior, then they will continue the behavior.
