Western Art (“Classical”) Music Canon

Western Art Canon refers to the music which we consider to be the most influential and everlasting pieces of art work. It is music that as time has passed, it has never lost importance. It's classical in every sense of the word in that it is old but is still present in many concerts as well as in our textbooks. Originating mostly from German-speaking countries, it spread throughout the world and gave light to many known classical music artists. These names include Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, and Brahms as well as others. It even had its own system of notation which now allows for present musicians to perform this type of art. Listening to western art canon, some of the most popular instruments included Violins, clarinets, pianos, and trumpets. However because many composers and eras exist, other works of art contain a wide variety of instruments. Just how music today makes you feel different emotions, classical music has the same effect. They play with tempos, volume, pitch, and other elements to create sounds that range from soothing to cheerful and even sadness. Western art music canon had a necessary and important influence that can still be heard in today's music.
