In this still of Chris' apartment, the placement and style of the objects portrays a modern city lifestyle of the protagonist. The natural source of light from outside establishes a safe and known environment, whilst the grey, blue and mustard yellow colours become familiar tones throughout the film; creating many moods from danger to entrapment. "Redbone" by Childish Gambino is used as the score in this scene. As Rose enters and exits the line "stay woke" is sung, proving symbolism as Chris needs to be careful of what he is going into. In this shot, Rose steps out of an elevator into a corridor, transferring from blue to yellow lighting (this can be seen as going from low-key to high-key lighting). This implies that Rose is secure but not entirely safe in the cool hues, which represent Chris' setting.
