She explain all the skills needed to be able to perform, and be successful. She even used a model of the "Expert" student to show a model for others. This is a useful tool to succeed. Only thing I didn't see is what skills would be needed prior to being able to complete. Other than that it is spot on!

This is a great way to figure out which students were successful during the activity, and who may need more practice on the skill. Asking for them to perform the skill gives time at the end of class to correct any areas that may need it.

Students are given options in this activity. They are allowed to dribble using either a basketball or playground ball, depending on their comfort / ability level. Students also have the opportunity to use both their dominant and non-dominant hand while dribbling. Sharon is also rotating playing positions which allows a student who might be struggling with the skill of dribbling to play defense and hopefully experience success.

I love that the difficulty level of the the different challenges in the start of the lesson goes up with each challenge and then transition from an individual challenge into a partner one. The main activity, Birdie In a Bucket, has many opportunities for all the students to be successful by either landing the birdie in the hoop, hit the bucket or make it inside the bucket. Students are kept motivated by collecting their snowballs and competing against their peers in many rounds. Can't wait to try it with my students!

She will be looking for proper grip on racket, proper stance, proper aim and swing. Susan makes sure to allow students to show off their skills which is a great way to evaluate them during her lesson. Also, during closing, students respond to questions about the skills that were taught and demonstrate the correct form of these skills. I really liked the self assessment the students had to make about their own progress (Thumb up-yes, thumb down -no, thumb in the middle-I'm getting there). This is a wonderful way to gage how confident the students are with their skills and to know if more practice is needed in a future lesson.

I believe that having a variety of lessons helps keep the students engaged and also learning throughout the class. This monopoly game can be used in a variety of skill assessments as well and how he utilizes pedometers and have students report their steps is a great way to keep them excited and motivated to participate. In addition, utilizing white boards and markers for students within the math component is another aspect for students to become more comfortable within the content of mastering their math skills.
