This is a problem because the student feels trapped. Their voice can't be heard. They're only kids who are getting hurt by their peers and even their teachers.

"Students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ) are subject to pervasive discrimination, including harassment, bullying, intimidation, and violence. They have been deprived of equal educational opportunities in schools in every part of our nation. Numerous studies demonstrate that discrimination at school has contributed to high rates of absenteeism, dropout, adverse health consequences, and academic underachievement among LGBTQ youth. When left unchecked, such discrimination can lead to, and has led to, dangerous situations for young people." (Human Rights Campaign

There are many ways we can fix our problem. We can allow teachers and staff members to listen to the student. When their voice is heard, they feel loved and respected. You don't need to support equality, but you should support the youth.

In 10 years, enrollment could drop, kids could get depressed and deprive themselves of the world. There are so many events that could happen that it's scary to think about. We need to remember that these are just kids who want to be accepted and they deserve to be loved.
