Thesis: Growing up in a broken family can significantly affect a child's psychological development. Many parents do not think about the impact a separated and disorganized household can have for children, such as behavioral problems, anxiety, trouble forming relationships and many other common effects. It is important that a child be molded by positive influences that set them up to be a healthy and successful adult.

Main Idea: My research essay is about exploring the kind of impacts a broken family during childhood causes. In this day, many young-adults are diagnosed with psychological issues mainly caused by their past/childhood and we tend to not pay too much mind to that. One-parent households have become the norm and those situations are negatively affecting the future of our youths as we see it happening before our own eyes.

A: Because of the repeated broken family situation, the psychological effects tend to be common among the many children who experience it.

      1. Main common effects: anxiety, behavioral problems, depression, poor social skills.

B: The future of these children can be affected regarding their career and daily life. Like any traumatic event, there are long-term repercussions that interfere with being able to out go a stable life.

C: It is crucial for a child to be in a loving home environment and witness that type of relationship. Families need to provide as much love and support throughout a child's life. There are so many examples and cases of children who do not receive that and how hard it is for them to live with that trauma.

D: Families can strive to strengthen their relationships with many resources provided for the sake of children's mental health. For example, couples therapy, family therapy or personal.

Counterargument: The counterargument for my essay is that children who experience a broken family in their childhood grow up to be strong and independent individuals that can take this experience and use it to their benefit to act as a self-motivator. Going into adulthood, individuals learn from their parents mistakes to not commit the same ones, thus improving the psychological development of future generations.

Work Cited:

Ceres I.
