The theme that I chose is water because In the book thirst it talks about how Minni has a shortage of water at home and how she lives in the poorest part of Mumbai. Minni also has to go to the town's tap to get not even fully clean water for her family. It is also sad because other people in skyscrapers get pools and Minni doesn't get clean water half the time or sometimes even gets none. The book also talks about how water is a lot to their culture and a lot to their family because water is a really big topic. Minni also has to do her moms work because she is sick, which means that Minni has to skip school which also means she won’t get her dream job.

In the book thirst there is a problem and it is about money which we will be focusing on. The problem about money is that if your country or city couldn't afford food or even clothes and Minni’s small town in Mumbai couldn't afford needed items which really affected everyone's life. That town in Mumbai where money is a very needed thing in life and without it life would be very tough and it would ruin your entire life and make you die earlier so what I mean is that in the book thirst and in real life money is a big problem. In the book Minnis mother is sick because of unclean drinking water which forced Minni into working a job while being a 12 year old girl and having to do school at the same time

Varsha was inspired to write Thirst after working in a health center in a neighborhood quite similar to Minnis. Limited water access was a problem that is most likely worse to this day. After figuring out that over 700 million people didn't have access to clean water I decided that this story had to be told. She chose to wright thirst because she wanted to raise awareness for all the people in the world who don’t have clean drinking water.

I chose community cause I thought In thirst there is lots of community even though some people don’t have a lot of money they are rich in community. Throughout the book Minni is supported by her community. They supported her when her brother left, when her mother was sick and had to leave and even when Minni has a job faiza helps her get through her mothers job and helps her catch one of the people in the water mafia . A scene that i really liked was the scene where Shanti asked Minni if she wanted extra help after class to help her then when Minnis stomach grumbles Shanti gives her a sandwich. I liked this scene because I thought it truly shows how supportive Minnis community is.
