Name

Jasmine is of Persian origin, meaning ”gift from God." My parents were going to name me Leslie or Margarita but my dad didn't like the name Leslie and my mom didn't like the name Margarita so they were looking through the baby name book in the hospital and found the name Jasmine. In a way, I feel like it does but then doesn't fit me. That doesn't make much sense but I kinda would prefer my name to be Jay because it's short and simple and I also haven't heard a lot of people have that name. But my name isn't bad it's cute just way too common. Fun fact Jasmine is also the name of a Disney princess so my mom says that's another reason she named me that but I think she just wanted me to feel special.

One food that reminds you of your family history? (something your mom, dad, or grandmother makes) (Food 2)

A food that relates to my family history has to be tamales I know basic but in every big holiday like Thanksgiving and Christmas, my family always makes tamales. Even when it's just cold we make tamales. My favorites are the green and cheese ones. I help my mom make them even tho they're very time-consuming but they´re so worth it when they're done. I could eat like 5 green and 5 cheese. As basic as they are they will always have my heart.

One food that reflects who you are? (Food 1)

I think the food that reflects who I am has to be pozole because my grandma always used to make it and after that, I just fell in love with it. I like both but red has to be my favorite it's like a comfort food to me because when I eat it, it makes me feel at home. My mom's favorite food is also red pozole which makes me happy because we both enjoy eating it together.

I look up to him a lot because he was a very hard-working and caring person and I hope one day I can be that too. I think I see him as my hero because no matter what I was going through he was there for me and when times got tuff he would tell me dont let one bad day ruin the many good days coming. He was a great man so therefore he will always be my #1 hero.

I think language has a lot to do with culture. I say this because growing up your grandparents or uncles/ aunts talk to you in the language they grew up talking so from there you start to learn a new language to you. But in reality, that language has been passed down from generation to generation. Language to me is kinda like a tradition because it's something that's passed down. The language that I and my family speak is Spanish. Since my family is from different parts of Mexico they all adopted different words in Spanish and when they pass them down I get a big mixture of how to speak/ say words in Spanish. Also in Spanish class, they teach you a different part of Spanish which is the Spain Spanish where it originally came from so we just call it proper Spanish.
