Initially, Homer wanted to leave the town in pursuit of a better life, but was met with nonstop criticism from peers and adults that knew nothing else but the town they live in and the life they have. After multiple tries, fails, and resolutions, Homer ended up taking his locally built rocket to the national science fair, where he won first place.
