this week we read persuasive text which were the Barrack Obama yes we can speech from 2009 and the Greta Thunberg speech from 2019. My favourite speech out of the two was greta Thunberg speech because I think it related to me more
How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future?

This text expanded my knowledge about the world a lot because it woke me up to the danger that my generation and future generations are in if we don't act. Greta used lots of statistics to sway the audiences opinion, Another technique she used was persuasive language and she was also not afraid of adversary when she attacked governments and people in power saying "I will be watching you".
Did this text raise any questions, excitement, or uncertainties about the future? If so, what are they?

This text made me think about what the Government is actually doing to help out the planet and also made me think about what the planet might look like 50 years from now

This week I looked at Podcasts, I listened to the flash forwards podcast which I found interesting because of how it talked about future technology.
How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future?
This text type defiantly opened my eyes to the capabilities of society and what inventions might arise over the next decades. It also made me wonder about if these inventions are going to have an overall good or bad affect in the long run of society.

This week we looked at opinions articles. The text that I read was called 'the Eco-anxiety is a normal response to disaster Denial isn't the answer'. I found this text quite interesting
How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future?

This text has opened my eyes to this issue because I had no idea that the climate change could have an effect on your mental health. This text also made me think about how climate change can actually effect your mental health.
Did this text raise any questions, excitement, or uncertainties about the future? If so, what are they?

This text made me question what is going to happen to the mental health of people on earth if climate change issue continue to worsen and what we can do to reverse the issue before its too late.

Which types of mentor texts did you engage with this week? Which one was the most interesting to you? - I engaged with an episode of the show Black Mirror, it was called Hated in the Nation. This was a visual text written by Charlie Brooker and directed by James Hawes.
How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future? - I thought about how it was really interesting little robot bees had been created to replace the real bees due to colony collapse - this seemed first like a really cool way to fix the problem if we really didn't have bees due to environmental concerns. However, my opinion quickly changed when I realised that of course people were going to be under surveillance by the government with a program like that and that's a bit of a scary thought.
Did this text raise any questions, excitement, or uncertainties about the future? If so, what are they? It made me think about the way that the internet is going to evolve. It seemed strange that even in a 'futuristic' show like Black Mirror, there were still things like twitter and cancel culture that existed. It makes me wonder about whether there might end up being serious consequences to 'cancelling' someone online in the future. I'm also even more uncertain about what the environment might look like now because I thought the episode would look way more futuristic and houses would be more automated but things are kind of still looking the same.

- I remembered watching Nosedive which is also an episode of Black Mirror, and people there also have their lives change drastically - but in different ways - when people turn against them.
- 1984 by George Orwell has the theme of surveillance - maybe I can think of a way to join these two ideas together when I create something

I have decided to do a persuasive text for my Non-fiction piece. I have looked at 2 persuasive pieces through the class work which was the Barrack Obama Speech and the Greta Thunberg speech. Greta Thunberg has given me inspiration to do a persuasive speech and I have taken tips from the speech to engage the audience. The target audience for my persuasive piece will be the older generation because I am going to talk about the future effects of climate change if we do not fix this issue. I am going to use a lot of different persuasive language techniques to strengthen my argument and to make sure my point is clear

I have decided to make my fiction piece as a short story, I am going to write this story about a future technology that hack into peoples minds and extract there thoughts. The audience for my text is going to be younger generations because the purpose of the text is to inform people on what mights happen in the future. The inspiration for this text came from the short story wish you were which man story line was about a man that was constructed through his social media posts. I have used ideas like this to construct my idea because I found the concept that someone can be constructed into a computer very interesting.

The type of texts that I engaged with this week was short stories. The text that I found the most interesting was the wish you were story.

How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future?
This text presented a lot of new ideas that I have never thought of before, the text talked about someone who was created through a computer and has the ability to hack into cameras and hack into other computers
Did this text raise any questions, excitement, or uncertainties about the future? If so, what are they?

The text defiantly made me wonder about what might happen in the future, I liked how they reconstructed someone purely off social media and It made me wonder if this was achievable
