This varies from the Statement of Priorities which is something that changes yearly to reflect change and areas of need. The Statement of Priority for the 2016-2017 fiscal year can be found here:

This statement of priorities is the general outline of what must be covered by this independently funded corporation in accordance with its accountability to the Ontario Minister of Finance.

Which means that they oversee the protection of investors, ensure there is no misconduct between participants. This includes the duty to oversee public companies, investment funds and marketplaces, such as the Toronto Stock Exchange

Its purpose is to give these individuals a chance to resolve their dispute through the use of a third party mediator who is separate from the commission. Any mediation services used will be at cost to the parties involved. This option may only be used if the timeline does not cause it to interfere with the original process. This process is informal and not binding.
