Dayang's Vision Board!

Assalamualaikum everyone! My name is Dayang Nur Zahra binti Razali. You can call me Dayang. I was born in Klang but grew up in Banting because my parents moved to places a few times. And now my parents have decided to settle down in my hometown, Negeri Sembilan. Honestly, it was hard because I have so many friends back in Banting but somehow I believe it's the best decision they have made for my whole family.

One of the reasons why I'm here at UPTM for my degree in Applied English is my motivation toward English. Honestly, my main passion is graphic design but since I also love English, I chose to pursue my study in Applied English. Ever since I was in standard 2 until Form 6, I had so many good bonds with my English teacher including my MUET teacher, Dr Vicky. It always gives me visions that learning English is fun and sometimes can be challenging.

Here are my plans after my graduation!

I plan to re-open my online business (pls support me at @distractedbyd) and accept more commissions to create graphic designs, and at the same time, join classes to improve my graphic design skills and abilities.

I also plan to apply for jobs as many as I can between my interests and abilities like copywriter, graphic designer, and so forth. My plan B is to work part-time jobs as a barista so that I can save my own money and learn how to make good coffee!

My next plan is considered one of my goals which is to travel with my friends and my family members to many places, and currently, I'm planning to save up my money for the upcoming trips.

I also plan to start a healthier and happy life. I want to minimize the use of my phone especially social media as it always exhausts me mentally and physically. Before this, I used to spend my time scrap journaling and writing my thoughts as it helped to keep my mood stable. So this time I want to start all over and try arabic calligraphy!

As soon as I get my job, I'm going to start saving up my money for my Umrah trip with my family members. InshaAllah with His will, I plan to get my Umrah trip a few years ahead. Aaminnn! Hehe

That's it! I hope you had a good time reading my visions. May Allah ease and bless my journey, Aaaminn! 🫶🏼

Podcast Assignment: Teh-Tarik Session!

Hi everyone it's me again! This week I had fun conducting this assignment: to record a podcast. I had the opportunity to collaborate with my friends, Humaira and Munif for this assignment.

So, for this assignment, we were assigned to create an episode of a podcast regarding the current issue in Malaysia. We chose a topic about netizens in Malaysia who are addicted to over-hype cafes. We can all see the patterns of Malaysians willing to spend their money on expensive coffee and food just for the sake of pictures! Crazy right? But I think there are also pros and cons because that helps cafe owners sustain their business. But we as a smart consumer, need to prioritize cafes that promote sustainability, quality, and fair labor practices.

Thus, for this assignment, each of us had to prepare our point of view on this issue in Malaysia! After that, by using Humaira's phone we recorded the audio and I helped to edit the audio on Audacity. All I can is that using Audacity is quite difficult and it takes time to edit the whole audio. Nevertheless, I successfully edited the audio and uploaded it on Soundcloud after hours of editing! Big thanks to Madam Azi and Youtube tutorials for helping me through it! Definitely, another experience, another achievement yeayy!

Okay bye for noww, till we meet again on next week!

Educational Video Assignment

Hello, it's me Dayang!

This week has been quite hectic as I had to juggle my time doing this assignment as well as my Fyp proposal. Definitely like sailing on the ocean hahah. But Alhamdulilah I manage to complete this assignment on time and yes I had so much fun editing and recording the video.

During week 4, my groupmates, Humaira, Haikal, and Sofia went for a consultation for our second draft for this assignment. However, we had to change the script and edit the video all over again. Nevertheless, with help from my friends, we managed to complete and upload the video on YouTube.

Our video is about Sarah, who has a hoarding disorder. She likes to shop online regularly and her house was a mess! She couldn't help herself from impulsive buying and because of that, her house is full of unwanted and unused things. So in the video, we included tips and steps to get away with hoarding disorder. So if you have a hoarding disorder, you might as well want to check out our video! Just click on the thumbnail and you're good to go!

I hope you get as much insight as we had while doing this assignment! Thanks and see you when I see you!

Halu everybody! It's me Dayang and this week I will talk about my first time creating a video on Powtoon! I have to say that it was a bit difficult for me at first but believe me it was worth it! I had fun doing it because I love editing videos.

For this small project, I have to create a video explanation about if I had a million dollars! Interesting right? Yes, it is! I listed everything I wanted to buy with the money and then started outlining my video. I chose one of the templates given on Powtoon, and then I started my editing according to the outline and finished in 2 hours!

Later in the class, I showed it to Madam Azi and she made some comments on my video about how it should be, the timing, the placing of elements, and the choice of elements. She also shows some tips on how to edit the video on Powtoon.

Thanks to Madam for guiding me through this small project! I enjoy every bit of time!

Til' we meet again on next week!

Learning Mandarin with Duolingo!

Hi, it's Dayang again and we are already in Week 4. That means we are already halfway through the semester. Wow, how time flies.

So this week I'm going to share my experience using Duolingo. Yup, that green owl. Honestly, it was the best decision ever because I managed to master levels 1-4 of Mandarin and Hanzi! It's really helpful and I must say it was not that difficult as I'm learning according to the levels.

Duolingo rewards users with points and badges for completing lessons, which can be motivating and help learners stay engaged. The app also includes a leaderboard, which allows users to compete with friends and other learners. So amazing right?? I also scored a 10-day streak without any skips!

I hope my future employers will notice my efforts in learning Mandarin! Wo xihuan xue zhongwen! 😂

Hello, and good day everyone! It's me Dayang! It's already week 7 and that means we ending the semester very soon.

I have to say it was a mixed feeling for me as I'm going to finish my degree next week. It was a bit stressful as I was struggling to complete my whole thesis. But day after day I am almost done with every assignment I have this semester.

So for this last week I had to create e-learning courseware about the usage of articles "a", "an", and "the" for standard 2 students on Google Sites. From what I have learned, an article is the determiner that we use in a sentence to modify or introduce the noun in a sentence. It mostly acts like an adjective in that it refers to the noun. Determiners include articles, adjectives of quantity, demonstrative adjectives, possessive adjectives, etc.

My task is to create, arrange, and design the platform. I took the responsibility to design as I was used to it while my other groupmates took their part. I definitely had so much fun doing it! Thank you to my groupmates who helped me create this courseware.

I think that's all and I hope you had fun reading all my entries! and to Madam, thank you for being a good lecturer to us through our learning process, and thank you for guiding us through these ups and downs, surely you will be missed. Bye everyone and Assalamualaikum! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
