1. Theme- Main Idea that is either stated or implied.
-Message, meaning, or moral of a story.
2. Plot- The pattern of events that occur in a story.

3. Setting- The time and place where a story occurs.

4. Characterization- Is what a character says, does, and looks like.

5. Point of View- The authors choice of narration; the perspective from which the story is told. Different types of point of view include the following:
1st person-This is when the narrator is referring to him or herself. You will see 'I,' 'me,' 'my' and 'mine' in first person.
2nd person-This is when the reader is directly addressed with 'you,' 'your' and 'yours.'
3rd person-This is where the narrator doesn't refer to him or herself - as in first person - and isn't addressing the reader - as in second person. Instead, you get an observer's perspective and lots of 'she,' 'he,' 'her,' 'his,' 'their' and 'theirs. 3rd person point of view may be omniscient of limited. Third person omniscient is a method of storytelling in which the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters in the story. While third person limited is a method of storytelling in which the narrator knows only the thoughts and feelings of a single character, while other characters are presented only externally.
