I added a carpet as our main meeting place, with a TV for daily slides and lessons. There is also an easel to present any non-digital materials. Around the mat, I placed seating for students who are unable to sit on the mat or for other teachers so they can be close to the students. The reading section is a reading tree bookshelf with comfortable seating around to give students a comfortable place to read, or an alternate place to do work if they do not want to sit at their desk. Desks are arranged in groups of four for the majority of instruction, with groups that change 4 times a year. The classroom has wobble stools throughout so teachers have a place to sit to assist with work. They can also use these couches during breaks/snacks to unwind and chat with each other in a comfortable space. There are two bookshelves in either corner of the room that would be filled with books to encourage a literate environment, an easel in another corner to encourage creativity, and a horseshoe table in another corner for further discussions. In Elementary school a lot of teachers do something called “special seats” for students who earn a spot to read comfortably. While there is nothing wrong with a little competition, when the reward is that the selected student gets to read comfortably, and the others have to sit in their hard plastic seats, in certain circumstances it can diminish students desire for reading time when they know they aren't comfortable and are just wishing they had a good spot like the "winning" student received.  So, my classroom offers comfortable spaces near the windows, under the Reading tree in the corner, or away from the window towards the front rug, with the option to even stay in their plastic desk seats as well.

Next to this is a bookshelf create the idea that this is a corner dedicated to literature. This area also has a lamp to create better lighting. The semi-circle table in the other corner would be a teacher desk and would be a space to meet with students about their work. There is a TV or a smartboard to be used during the day. I also have cubbies in the corner so students could always have access to their things. I additionally decided that I would also have to fit 15 kids in there like in my actual preprac classroom--and for additional realism, planned out where the white boards would be as well. This is a great app for planning especially when you do have a tight space, as most teachers often do. I find that personal affirmations help build self love, and confidence, and I want to instill that within my classroom. There is also a bookcase on the side that will highlight either books that have been read in class or books of the month so students can engage with those texts. There is a small sofa and chairs on the other side of the carpet because I want students to be able to have a comfortable place where they can read. On the other carpet is where mini lessons will take place and I have the white board and TV so I can show videos if I want. In the corner is the half circle with jellyfish chairs so students can feel engaged and invited in when they do small group work with myself at that table. The tables are colored because I want my classroom to run smoothly so it's a fun way to keep things in order.
