I see the LMX theory being applied in my future as a leader by me trying to get to the partnership phase with each and every one of my subordinates as quickly as possible. I think that all three phases will be seen when there are new subordinates, but I also believe that the quicker a new subordinate advances through the stages with the leader, then the leader will also see better work/results from the subordinate as well as the subordinate being comfortable in his workplace. I want to get to the partnership phase with all of my future players so that they feel like they can come to me for anything and so that they are comfortable playing for me and then they will put forth their best effort and then they will likely see more positive results from their work.

I feel that having the knowledge of the LMX theory will influence my leadership style going forward because it will make me think about how I correspond with subordinates to complete tasks. I currently try to treat everyone the same in the office, but sometimes I find myself being more open to people who I deem are more capable to complete assignments. In the future I will try to keep my dyadic relationships equal with all employees with whom I interact on a professional level in order to not show any favoritism.

Patrick - I also optimistically would like to maintain a level of acquaintance or the mature phase with most of my employees to keep the line of effective communication open and the environment relaxed. When I worked in the realm of business the rule of management was to be friendly but not familiar with most employees to maintain respect at a professional level. I still try to follow this rule to some aspect because if one becomes to familiar than they are more likely to be take advantage of from employees that are not focused on employment goals.

Chris,
I believe that every leader is guilty of having more open relationships with certain subordinates. It is nearly inevitable because certain people just click better than others. A leader must be able to make an attempt to be open with all subordinates and try to maintain consistent relationships with each and every one of them.

I see the LMX Theory helping me to grow into the leader I want to become. I can take the information that I learned about me and my supervisor and let that help me to form relationships with my future employees. Currently I only have one person under me, but I strive to do my best at being a good leader to her. A leader must be able to make an attempt to have an open relationship with their employees and I think with this LMX Theory it will help me to do that

I already think that the LMX Theory is helping you as a leader. You treat everyone the same and there is no one different in your eyes. No matter what kind of day someone is having, you always like to make light of any subject and make their day. I believe the LMX Theory will help me be a better leader because I can use this to take a look at the relationship that I have with my supervisor and try to be like her with my employees.
