Then the next year they decided to make a drivers' championship.

Only seven of the twenty F1 races counted towards the title but the championship was up and running. Even as more races were included in the championship but there was lots of non-championship Formula One races.

It had the third International Cup for F1 the teams  and loads of races just for fun. The World Championship, started on the 7th of February every year and ended on 20 November after ten races.

It featured the 21st to the 30th World Championship of Drivers and the 13th to the 22nd International Cup for F1 teams . Thirteen races were held between the 7th of March and the 25th of October every year with the 1970 Championship  won by Jochen Rindt and the team title by Lotus. It is the only season to date in which the World Championship title has been awarded.

Renault re-entered F1 in with the first ever turbocharger. The turbocharger  was new, quick and exciting, but there were reliability problems, and the Renault did not finish an entire race until a year after it was brought in.

Ayrton Senna, won the Drivers Championship for the second time and McLaren won their third consecutive team Championship. Ayrton Senna died in 1994 from a crash at the San Marino Grand Prix, his death led to major improvements in driver safety.

The  World Championship started on the 12th of March and ended on 22nd of October after seventeen races each year. Michael Schumacher, became Ferrari's first World Drivers Champion for 21 years. This decade started Jenson Button career.
